Mine are still green. There are loads of tomatoes but all green. Took my two earliest toms off to bring indoors a few days ago and mo change. They're in a greenhouse so not getting too cold but nothing yet.

Anyone else from Scotland finding this? They are Alicante tomatoes.

Mine just started to ripen-after scissors massacre in the greenhouse. So far I had a couple of Tigerellas and 1 Red Alert.More on the way after cutting off some leaves, pinching the tops and plonking banana skins underneath.Hope they'll speed up soon as the forecast says "fresh notherly breeze"(galey like) and down to 4 degrees in the night

Yes but honestly, who needs 70 plants?

Grow less, but grow them better. If you grow less you can give them more attention, which means more checking for blight. It is possible to stop blight on cordons (I know it is, because I've done it every year for the last few (bushes are alot harder, but possible with a bit of luck and perseverance)), but you need to be right on top of it, checking the plants at least once a day.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

            whoever grows that many obviously

I've got about 120 for various things, but I did spray a lot of mine this year because I wasn't prepared to make that amount of green tomato chutney again...

I have smaller tomatoes than expected but i have been picking 1kg or so every other day.

The problem I have is that everything else is rubbish so we're eating lots of tomatoes and nothing else! My 5 courgette plants produced 1 courgette last week...

My tumblers have been ripening and so have my roma's and cost.f. in the GH. I have had one red ferline from the lottie. I'll give them another couple of weeks then it'll be chutney time..........

Have 11 tumbling toms in hanging baskets 8 of which are sharing a stand with 2 in each 12" basket (not my idea) and I have given at least 5 pounds away, didnt think it would work but they are ripening better then the ones in the greenhouse

Most of my cherry tomatoes have ripened now, however the normal size ones are still green as grass!
Guess i know which plants i am seeding for next year though, =x

Does the banana trick still work? Worth a try?

Ive had plenty of ripe ones, too many to use some days - but yeah still a load of green ones and were heading to colder weather and it would be a shame not to get them ripened and into some pasatta or something

I gave it a go.Bunch of bananas is not expensive so I scattered some underneath the fruit clusters(not enough skins to be scrounged at work).
I said to my OH"BTW,if you want a banana you'll find it in the greenhouse".Poor guy must think I completely lost my plot

The ones without the bag were half reddened this morning, so I took the bag off the other truss, and was amazed to see every single one was red!

It could be coincidence, but I am going to try it again
