I've often fancied rudbeckia because they flower late summer into autumn, a time when most garden flowers are winding down, but I thought they only came in that brassy yellow or orange colour which I hate, so the name "Cherry Brandy" set me googling, and what a fantastic colour it is!

                            where there is a space

Hardy annuals and sweet peas in gh bringing on in cold frames and sheltered spot, things I have struggled with in the past or more tender in propagator and bring on on windowsills. In the next few weeks I will start sowing half hardy annuals in the greenhouse.

                            • Popped into the GC for some vermiculite and came out with a packet of lupin seeds too, and some of those cardboardy fibre type pots to try. Gosh they were a bit flimsy when I'd filled them with compost, sowed the seeds and watered them. But I'm trying out ways of not using plastic pots. I reckon egg boxes are sturdier.
