      • Not seeds but bulbs-I mentioned in Chatback that on Saturday I found a box of spring bulbs in the garage that I had completely forgotten about so a little belatedly (both from a posting and planting point of view ) I got these into the ground:

75 Daffs- Actaea,Obvillaris, St Patricks day,Prof Einstein and Red Devon.
125 Crocus- Ruby Giant, Fuscotinctus, Cream Beauty, Ard Schenk, Sieberi Firefly.
        75 Snowdrops- singles

Still to put in are 50 iris reticulata and 25 chrysanthus Prince Clause but I'm thinking they will go into pots this year.

Not expecting much but they stand more chance outside than in a box in the garage...

                      • A few years ago I bought a tray of mixed Petunias and put them in a hanging basket.

Since then I've been saving the seeds and resowing them in the basket, clearing away dead plants and weeding/top dressing. The hanging basket is now pretty old, but has had a new lining made with the plastic from an old compost bag with some drainage holes added.

It's interesting each year to see what coloured flowers I will get, as the original mix will have cross pollinated and some of them might have been F1s.

I also added a Black Mamba variety to the basket a couple of years of ago, and although I didn't get any flowers of the same colour last year, I did get some that were lovely shades of purple

It's fantastic going out at dusk or dark and shining a torch on purple flowers like this at it reveals colours close to the Ultraviolet spectrum that you cant see during normal light. A small window in to the world of what insects see that we can't.
