              Thanks for the warm welcomes.

I've been given the go ahead to start out; they've sent me the invoice, agreement and key

Getting to know the neighbours, met a guy who can sort tea and warmth when he's about - so that's the important things sorted

Now for pictures I'm afraid to say you will have to wait a smidgeon longer - I work full time an hours travel away so there's no evening visits yet - the weekend should see my "where it began" pictures sourced.

Having a wander to the allotment tomorrow with a tape measure, pen and paper, 3yr old, oh and my phone (to get pics before you ask ).

I've been thinking about what I've seen growing, and what I want so going to try get some plans in place.

Also need to trim the brambles and raspberries I think - would I be best trimming the tops till I know if they are summer/autumn ones?

I'm going to grab a couple of leeks to go with tea (That I'll pick up from farm shop on the way home).

Any tips on anything I should be doing on my maiden trip?

                Thanks all.

You should be able to tell if the canes are "spent" they are usually darker in colour and if you bend them over will snap. Take those ones out if you can.

                          What are these?

Thinking fruit as there's gooseberries in the same area...

                            Gosseberries

I can't put a pic of the gooseberries alone up as it's too big.

But a neighbour told me that's what they are. There are two well established bushes.

Now, will these survive digging up and potting? I'm hoping a neighbour on the allotment will take them

                                Leeks

Grrrr - another picture too big!!!

They seem happy enough - at least one is sprouting babies

So, anything I need to do with them?
