I'm just sat out in the garden enjoying the sun with my coffee. My left arm is sore, had a booster yesterday. So will be relaxing today.

Well....last time she was a rubbish mom....crushed her first hatched and then killed the second one with a well aimed peck to the side of the head
The others weren't viable.

This time she's been calmer (we were reluctant to use her)...
We heard a pipping this morning, and checking the eggs when she went for a reluctant drink and poop she's already managed to crush one
Still....we could see the beak picking through one of the eggs and 2 others cheeped when we tapped their shells.
Fingers crossed we have at least 3live chicks out of the 6 eggs....

Soooo hard not to interfere/keep checking out what's going on!

Gooooogle Marans chicks NS....for a preview!

These eggs are from the female Pure bred Marans we hatched last year....and her 'brother'...so these too should be unofficially purebred-so...really dark brown eggs!

What do they say.....
Don't count yr chickens until they've hatched?......soooo hard not to!

any news yet Nicos.
2 off my girls now squate when am near,blubell did it not long ago for first time,black rock several days,i give them a little back scratch,something i read about,they think it's the coceral and stimulates them,come on,i want an egg,my it has been hot today,did a bit more clearing up of junk down the lottie,and MR has started to get behind the lottie mower slow but careful,he hates it when i ravage his ear drums ,hope to continue tomorrow as it supposed to be a good day

Afternoon all. Children eating dinner, I'm hot and bothered! Got home and realised i hadn't opened the gh doors

Everything frazzled to varying degrees. Did an emergency water so hoping all will be OK.

Update!

So far, the one chick has hatched and alive and chirping!
Looks like mom isn't going to reject it!

They aren't actually due until tomorrow so this one was unexpected..

I'll try and take some piccies soon , but I don't want to stress mom as she's a bit unpredictable. Actually she and her half sister and their mom are the 3 chooks which have a bit of a dinosaur streak in them!!
