Firstly (would post this on the moan thread but am here at the moment....) medal is not a verb and secondly I think it is the same selection criteria for able bodied athletes.
Also there is another thing against the Olympics.
Did you know that the Olympics has a tax loophole and the sponsors will pay little if any tax in the UK.
As a result of a petition organised by 38degrees - with over 210,000 signatures :-
"Nine down! Coca-Cola, McDonalds, EDF, Visa, GE, Omega, P&G, BMW and now Adidas have confirmed they won't be dodging Olympic tax". The petition is still collecting signatures - you can find it by Goggling 38degrees if you want to know more.
Thats 100million pounds of our money that people have paid to the lottery.
Why not just give the money to hospital, schools and good causes.
Yes Id like a million pounds but surely its better that everyone gets a share.
Update - All companies targeted by 38 Degrees have agreed NOT to take advantage of the Tax exemptions and to be subject to normal UK tax rules. A Positive result https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/index.php/pages/296/
SO excited about watching the equestrian events - great leveller, a rare sport where men compete against women - absolutely fantastic! Go Zara Philips!
I will be watching the Equestrian events too, if I happen to be in when they are on. That is, if they actually get televised. British television has far too little Equestrian coverage, these days.

I am seriously disappointed at how negative most grapes are! This is the worlds number one sporting event and it's here in the uk for the first and last time in most of our lifetimes
I enjoy playing sports, I really don't enjoy watching them though ~ and I don't understand how people can spend a sunny weekend indoors watching the gogglebox, not just during the Olympics, but all year round
What makes me most disappointed is peoples insatiable desire to find fault in others efforts.
If you don't like sport, fine, don't watch it. iplayer, dvds, skyplus, gardening make it easy to escape (and why are you looking at a thread titled 'Olympics'?).
If you do like sport and want to see particular events, rather than knee-jerk complaints, look at the BBC website, where every moment of every sport will be broadcast.
And whether you are or are not interested, this is 2 weeks out of your whole life. Cheer up and enjoy it or ignore it. Your choice.
conversely, if you like sports, why not go and talk about it on a forum dedicated to sports?
This is a forum. On a forum, you will get people who agree or disagree with your posts. Learn to put up with it, and stop complaining about that aspect of it.
