  • Inappropriate weeding...

    ...does anyone else do it?

I normally manage to stop myself, but often find myself about to pick weeds from the strangest of places...walking to the shops and seeing one growing in the pavement or standing in someone's garden.

Yesterday was the worst, whilst hiding eggs in the park with a friend, she asked why I had a clump of grass in my hand...in the park for goodness sake!

Sad thing is, I'm not quite so OCD on my plot.

    Inappropriate weeding...
Like the book you read before bedtime?
Sorry Di, back to topic, Yes, but in friend's gardens they seem to take it as a personal insult, like running your finger through the dust on the mantelpiece, so I stick to parks and open spaces now!

A couple of years ago, a group of us had a 'Grape meet-up' at Wisley. At one point, our conversation was interrupted by my mobile phone ringing. As it was my lovely Fil, I answered it. Whilst yattering to him, I was caught by another Grape, absentmindedly pulling weeds from a raised bed or urn or sommat that I was standing beside!

            Nutter!? Me!? Guilty as charged!

I have been known to yank a weed out of a pot containing a plant I'm interested in at a garden centre and then change my mind about buying it,- or dead head the odd flower.

......Think I'm more of an inappropriate deadheader.

I can safely say that if any closet inappropriate weeder would like to come onto my plot 'just to keep their hand in', they'd be welcome.

I was at a children's party and was a little bored (!) so I wandered off to have a nosey round her veg patch.... was found half an hour later happily squishing all the caterpillars on her brassicas!

I have a neighbour with a patch of soil approx 16 x 20 feet in his front garden, which is bordered by slabs, in fact it is his front garden, and is constantly maintained as weed free soil. I've asked him why he doesn't grow anything in it and he told me he like the look of the bare soil.

                              Is it me...
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
