Well, just received my offer letter (having accepted the job verbally). Once I get the contract through I'll issue my boss with my resignation letter *parp*.

Sad thing is, I like my boss (just not his boss), and certain areas of the company are pretty cool, but overall it just ain't working out like I'd hoped.

(by the way, this is an exercise in catharsism (sp?) more than anything else as I've never left a job this way - well, not in my proper adult working life).

The new place seems a much more people orientated place (hence the need for a "personality presentation") and I will hopefully be able to make more of an impact and assert more influence in what is a smaller pond.

Not looking forward to handing my resignation in - I know there's a whole heap of jobs/activities/initiatives etc over the next couple of months. But hey, waddya do?

Thanks for all the support and encouragement again - I do appreciate it!

Have been in a bit of a quandry over the past couple of days - I've never made a decision like this, and started to question if I'd done the right thing - "buyers remorse" if you like. Started with the "what ifs".

Anyways, my new boss-to-be called me yesterday but I was unable to answer, so called him when I got home.

He just wanted to make sure everything was ok, and that I had no concerns - he said there is lots to do, and that they are really keen to get me started as soon as possible. He said that once all the forms are signed, and everything is dotted and crossed then perhaps we could meet up for dinner ("with your wife") to discuss it all and go over everything.

                  How cool is that?

Then went on to say that he thinks I'll have fun there (have fun - brilliant) and that they do work hard, and have off days obviously, but overall it's a really good place to work.

Any concerns I had were allayed right there!

Oh, and apparently I stood head and shoulders over the other candidates*

*I actually suggested that may have been the case - he chuckled and agreed.

...and cue "It's a Small World" song.

Emailed my old boss (now retired) to ask if he'd mind giving me a reference. He willingly agreed, he recognised the company, and asked if it the same one that one of my ex-colleague's husband worked for. Turns out it is, so I'll be able to glean a little inside info...

LadyWayne and I meet up with my ex boss and his wife every few months and have dinner - the last time we spoke, all was hunky dory where I am now. However, since then things have obviously changed (hence the change in job) - but my ex-boss didn't realise. Turns out, that he was talking to the MD of our old competitors, who was apparently asking about me, and coming to work for him. Ex-boss said that I was happy with the job I'm in (not realising this to be untrue).

                      Sods law innit!?

Sorry, I rambled a bit there, hopefully it made sense...?

                                Getting silly now.

Had two voicemails this morning - one from my old Sales Director who wants to talk to me about a job (I think that's what he said through the crackles, sounding more like Norman Collier than the chap I'm familiar with), and another from a recruitment agent who's seen my CV online.

                                Nice to be popular!
