Valentines Day...What are you doing??

Probably cook steak in pepper sauce- always goes down well and one of us will be snoring by 10pm as it's on a Monday and we're always both really tired on a Monday evening. Haven't seen any spontaeous romance since we were first 'going out!' but my 50th is fast approaching so I'm holding my breath

Same as every year - we'll talk about doing something then not bother! We do cards and pressies (I like the card recycling idea!)

Don't really like Valentine's Day (think I said this last year too) as I don't really see what is romantic about being told that you have to do something on a specific day. It's OH's birthday at the end of the month and I usually make a real effort for that, maybe go out, nice food, wine etc and put aside some time to do something (last year we went up to the Lakes for the day and it was one of those beautiful crisp winter days with lots of sunshine and hardly anybody about. That's far more romantic to me that the hideous thought of going out to a crowded restaurant where they're trying to make as much money as possible. Personally I'd not bother with a card or pressie for Valentine's day at all but OH got annoyed when I didn't bother with it at all the first year so usually make a card which is personal to him (nothing very fancy though) rather than fall for the blatant commercialism of it all

I've bought her two trees from Aldi. They'll last longer than chocolates and flowers.

Nuffink! Although, because I'm not allowed any (diet), he'll probably remember and buy me chocolate!

No, seriously, I think it's fun to make a fuss of Mr P for valentine's. Last year, I made a pink dinner. Can't remember the first course, main was salmon and leek filo hearts then I made biscuits called Baci di Dama (lady's kisses) for dessert. Lots of candles and silly nonsense

At last - someone else who is romantic!!!!

I'll be having breakfast in bed ( hopefully followed by a nice cuddle)
Then we'll be going out for the day somewhere- then cook a 'red' meal together- eaten by candlelight.

I've always made a spesh meal for all the family- anyone welcome in the extended family.
Tis a fantastic excuse.
One year my OH made me breakfast in bed with champers- our teenage kids sat at the bottom of our bed and joined in!!
Several times the kids have had a small glass of champers before going to school on Valentines day!!

Main : Prawn heart-shaped ravioli with basil cream, salad
Dessert : heart meringues with cream and raspberries.

I hate the commercial nature of valentines day as it insinuates that this is the only day it is acceptable to be romantic and in not doing anything you are therefore a miserable tight fisted old ***!

Naturally I am the latter at the best of times.. Unfortunately OH conforms to the idea that this day has to have a ceremony, exchange of cards etc. I wish life accepted that this day is a fake money grabbing annoyance.

It doesn't help that it falls a week prior to both OH and my birthdays, cards are far too expensive these days, plus we are away over our birthdays, so I'm sure this valentines day will pass with little effort on my part and lots of moaning and general unhappiness on OH's.

Well we got engaged on Valentines Day in 1963 and have always celebrated it.
This year we will have a champagne breakfast, go out for lunch and then my hubby will cook a nice romantic dinner.
He will buy me flowers like he always does and I will buy him a big box of Hero's because he has such a sweet tooth, and yes, we still exchange cards.
