Essential Journey?

I was listening to Scotland's traffic reports y'day, it sounded as if every road in Scotland was gridlocked.
I guess walking is out of the question? I've a 3 mile walk if it gets too icy to cycle. Today I'm lucky, it's 'only' sleeting

unfortunately walking is out of the question as its all motorway, would be about 3 hrs at least,10miles in total but i decided that i wasnt taking a chance today and took the day off.

need to go out later though and collect the OH,s car which she abandoned about 4miles away and walked
