        Vaseline eh?

I was going to suggest a close shave, brillo or an angle grinder. Too late as usual

If it didnt come off I was going to suggest that you get more tippex and turn it into a "50" in honour of the party!

Not just a made up story to amuse - glad to be of service and that my 'wisdom' has been of help. Hope the show and tell goes well.

Reminds me of story told by colleague employed as a nannie by "eastern" family in london, children took playdoh to white deep shagpile carpet, result? Carpet replaced.

Personally I liked the pink felt tip idea. Lessons all round.

Actually there was method behind my madness. Once my hangover had subsided and I actually felt well enough to worry about it I did try to apply some logic:

Tippex of old is oil based and therefore anything with an oil base, should, in theory soften it and help to loosen it. Baby oil, olive oil, any oil based moisteriers should work. I chose vaseline as it's that bit thicker and staid on. Also, WD40 was the only other option at the time and I wasn't THAT hung over

New tippex is water based.....maybe time to get mummy darling to invest in the newer version.

LOL . My youngest once appeared one morning after deciding to face paint herself as a cat with permanent felt pens. Unfortunatly I didn't know aboout the vaseline tip and just tried to wash it off. She went to playgroup looking like she'd got bruises all over her face.!
Needless to say the pens were rounded up and consigned to the bin.

Well maybe it's better this way - you have a job and the little 'uns have someone who cares for them. Mummy might not be there but it will bite her on the backside one day, believe me, I know and then she will regret it.

My mum and I have a terrible relationship and as a child she was never around for me; she had to work (single parent family in the 70's was a big deal at the time) so I had the 'benefit' of lots of Aunties and Uncles.

My siblings on the other hand had mum there all the time for them growing up and their relationship with her is vastly different.

As an adult I made the decision I will be there for my child (night work is grim but I know I'm fortunate to have it as it allows me to be home during the day) as I don't want to repeat the mistakes my mum made with me (some will happen of that I'm sure) and one day the children you're raising will thank you for being there and for giving them good values, and the knowledge of getting rid of tippex (can't garantee you'll be there to hear it though, it normally happens around 25 / 30 years old
