Thank you for your very concise answer I'll just have to hold me horses until the evening. OH also suggested ending on a Sunday, but we're all out digging on a Sunday - I would have thought for girly things it might be good for it to end on a Saturday pm, after kick-off - or is that being sexist lol!

My listings end late at night, girly things like rings, necklaces etc, end near halfway through MOTD

I'm checking every two minutes to see if there is a bid, whilst knowing that no-one will bid for another 9 days! Anyway, gotta go and get ready for big night out, wearing replacement shoes I can walk in.

My OH buys coins on Ebay and he always waits till the end so hopefully no one else has time to put in a higher bid. 99% of the time he wins the item. Tried to sell some bits but didnt get very far. I need to learn how to do it as I have a lot to sell and have got fed up with car boot, will do some more so I can sell some plants as well.

I sell coins on Ebay. It`s amazing what they can go for.
Is there any in perticular he is looking for?

Having a dim moment here, if you want to time your auctions to end 7.30ish, do you have to start/post them at the same time, and when does the times start from, since it takes up to a day for the item to appear on the site?

If you use Auctivia you can schedule the listing to start (and therefore finish) and whatever time you want to....worth investigating if you plan to carry on with Ebay

I've bought quite a few things on ebay, never sold anything (not got anything worth selling that I don't want). I usually put in my maximum, and go away until the auction is over. I KNOW how much I am prepared to pay, and if someone wants it enough to pay more than that, good luck to them, but they ain't getting it cheaper than my limit! If I don't keep going back, I can't get tempted to pay more than I intended....

Hilary, I think I'd have to do that if I was buying - too tempting to just nudge up a little. I've watched one sale go the the end and it had been on for days with no bids and then about 10, including counter bidding in the last minute.

I've already had an email from ebay saying since I hadn't had any bids, would I like to find out to make my item more saleable (but this might cost more!?!). The only way I could make it more saleable is to buy the other 50 pairs of red suede high heels myself! Meanwhile, I shall be patient and not panic until the last 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, I have spent another couple of hours putting something on ebid as a comparison. It seemed a little easier to use, but then I had had yesterday to practice on ebay.

How on earth you regulars get time to take the photos, edit them, upload them, write the description etc - well it must be practically a full time job and I can see why Glutton4 goes in phases!

The best way to buy cheap on ebay is to only bid in the last few moments, either in person or via auctionsniper.com, that way you dont end up in a bidding war with the price rising early, and then get outbid at the last minute! It also prevents you from being tempted to bid up if you arent winning, as you wont have time to do so!

If there is ONE person bidding MY way, then last minute bidding will only get the item at 'more than they are willing to pay' whatever you do. If you know your limit, it makes little difference in the long run. When I am pretty sure there will be little interest in an item, I MAY bid late, but otherwise, I just get on with it.

Don't do down the excitement - I'm sure it's normal! The first time I sold something on ebay I was like a cat on hot bricks, and couldn't keep away from the computer, had to check on them every half an hour or so I was very tempted to put in a starting bid on your shoes, even though I'm a size 8 (snap Allotmentlady!), just to get it going for you - but I'd feel a bit silly if I ended up winning them, I'd have to do a Cinderella and stuff my feet into them. I wonder if those 10 'watchers' are all Grapes?!

Good luck, it's a great feeling when you make a sale, I just hope you get a better price for them than my first sale - 99p , but I have had some goodish ones too...

I knoooowww, I'm just scared you're all helping. I too want to place a bid. It's very exciting (for those with no chicks or kids to hatch!)

I am lining up most of the house to sell if these go, OH and I will be sat on tea chests, but at least the cat will probably have a cardboard box to play with.

No need to be scared, pet, watchers can't be seen by anyone else but you... If I had size 6 feet I'd be genuinely tempted, however, those shoes might look odd down on the lotty (don't have much cause to 'scrub up' these days, but I promise I will when I meet you!).

Ah yes, ebay is very addictive (seriously, apparently swanky clinics now have ebay addiction courses ).

I don't wish to be a wet blanket on your excitement, but I've been in your situation, and I'm sure at least half of the watchers are people who have a similar item and are just checking the current 'market' price before listing theirs.

That said, I hope you get loads of dosh for them
