I put measurements on all clothes and shoes I sell because of the differences in the sizing between different brands.

Those red shoes are delicious but the suede would get trashed when I'm gardening

I usually take a 6 to 6.5, so they are a largish 6. That said, I've just bought a pair of new shoes (heel just as high but a lot wider) and the 6 was like a boat and I ended up in the 5 - how wierd is that, I know I lost a couple of stone but it shouldn't have made that big a difference!

I'm checking every two minutes to see if there is a bid, whilst knowing that no-one will bid for another 9 days! Anyway, gotta go and get ready for big night out, wearing replacement shoes I can walk in.

You don't have to keep looking to see if there is a bidder, you will get an email from Ebay when there is.
I have been buying on Ebay since 2003 and I have only ever had two or maybe three bad experiences.

However in the last 12 months,Amazon has overtaken Ebay in popularity for selling items and although it does not have auction listings, many items sell for way more than on Ebay and at your fixed price. You still need to do searches though to see what other similar items have sold for but if you have a lot of items to shift it would be worth checking it out.

No need to be scared, pet, watchers can't be seen by anyone else but you... If I had size 6 feet I'd be genuinely tempted, however, those shoes might look odd down on the lotty (don't have much cause to 'scrub up' these days, but I promise I will when I meet you!).

Ah yes, ebay is very addictive (seriously, apparently swanky clinics now have ebay addiction courses ).

What - sell my books - noooooooooooo! I am quitely building up a photographic library of things to sell (OH guitar collection, CD collection, valve amps etc)(only joking sweetie) - we just have all this accumulated stuff like ornaments that need dusting, kitchen gadgets never used etc so I will try this Turbolister.

Hi , ooooooohhhh Ebay now theres a thing.
Ebay has been a bitter sweet experience for me, more sweet than bitter though.
Ebay kept me out of the 9 to 5 routine for 3 years. I run it as a business selling radio communication equiptment and for a corner of the dining room business it had a turn over of 60,000 a year(until my suppliers decided that ebay was also the way to go).
During this time i have had mainly a great experience with the odd pillock who threatens retribution for not recieving their item within 24 hours.

Now days i love decluttering just before holiday time and truely have paid for my last 3 years holidays by selling my clutter.

The best sales however are those items you purely buy to sell on, mine being a 1940`s xylophone bought at car boot for �3 and sold to an american for �380.

A little advice if i may,as a seller if you want to sell anything that the buyer has to collect then realise that your customer base will be limited(IE put your 3 piece suite in the Ad Mag you will get more) and in contrast if you can realistic send your items globally then the customer base is HUGE.

Good luck. Once you have sold something on Ebay it really is addictive.

No Ebay is confusing me, they say they've sent an invoice, then there is a button to also send an invoice, and then apparently paypal will create an invoice.

And Glutton, how do you do the postage thing - do you take the full amount from Paypan and then refund the difference once you've been to the post office?

I have looked at the site, but they just say 'post when you get the money' - great help. Although there is a first time buyers forum, it's thousands of pages long and taking some reading through.

Anyway, despite tiny bid amount, I will try again - applying the things I learnt from all you good grapes!

Yes he has a Hiwatt guitar amp which he has been promising to sell for the last 15 years at least. I'll check if he has any valves loose.

You decide what the postage and packing charge will be before you list the item, and then when the buyer pays your invoice you send them the item, if you have overcharged on the postage, a refund is at your discretion, but the biider has accepted the charge you placed by bidding on it.

I have had some people put a couple of quid in the package with a note saying that the postage was not as much as they thought it would be. You have to take into account your time, cost of packaging, the stamps, and presumeably a trip to the post office to post them your shoes.

Thanks David, that was a great help. I had overestimated the postage but have now sent an invoice with the correct amount. Putting the difference in the package in cash is a lovely idea - normally not something I would consider doing, but a good surprise for your buyer.
