            It's no good, you'll just have to chop it off and feed the un-manky bits to the chicks. Hope it gets better soon though hon xxxxx

              That sounds well yuckky Linda - I hope the fact you are offline is coz you have gone to get it checked over. Hope you are on the mend by the time youi read this.

                To get rid of gunge on sores diluted hydrogen peroxide will disinfect it and remove the manky stuff.
                It'll froth up, but will certainly remove the surface pus.

                  Really hope you've been to a Dr or at the very least a pharmacist, Lynda. Green gunge is most definitely pus. Keep it clean (bathe twice daily in saline if you have nothing else) and if you're not out and about, keep it open to drain. Is it right on the knee? Anything on/near a joint should get swifter attention, as once an infection sets in at the joint site, it's more difficult to treat due to the poor blood supply. If you do choose the H2O2 route, make sure no-one else is around. Swearing will most surely follow!

                      People sometimes recommend H2O2 for a horse, too. I quite value my arms and legs, though.
