Most years I've grown from seed (not saved, I'm afraid). But this year I'll buy plug plants. Everyone round here with a veg patch grows them. Too useful a crop not to. And yes, I've hung them as bunches, but I do get quite a few individual ones that I just carefully store in a box not touching others if poss.

Not sure anyone else uses them for frying or cooking like us, though. Between us, we're getting through 250 g a morning for toms on toast for breakfast.

          • Good evening.

I was organised this morning and too a load of "stuff" to the hospice shop. Is it just me who thinks that charities are getting picky these days! I would consider taking my next load elsewhere but the one good thing about the hospice shop is that they have a car park which is handy when you have a boot full.

I then went to the mini recycling place in a local supermarket car park and dumped some non working small electricals.

Since then I've been doing some serious heavy duty cleaning and I now have a very tidy bookcase too.

            • Been a lovely sunny day here 🌞 was like a sauna in the blow away by 10:30

Our charity shops are picky now too. I've been told they get a lot of people who give clothes etc that are too well worn/damaged to wear, broken stuff, things with missing pieces..... Ours won't take books at all at the moment as they have so many already & don't have the storage space to take more.

                  • Morning all.

A bit grey outside, but I'm expecting the sun to appear later. I agree about charity shops. And they cherry pick all the really good donations and send them off to auction or auctions online. No exciting finds to be had. I don't really blame them, they are all struggling for funds as people tighten their belts and give less money. I'm tired of the amount of charities, both local and national, that canvass door to door now as well. I can't support them all, I can't believe they get any donations this way.

Right, on with the day, I've painting to do.

                      • Morning all.

I remember when I cleared out my mum's house, the charity shop I took things to said that lots of people were using them to dump stuff rather than take it to the tip themselves.

Had a good start to the day, but I'm slowing down now. Need to get a bit more get-up-and-go going.

Watered the olive trees and have erected the new compost bin at long last.

Late lunch due and then probably a nap to recover.

Better go and see what Mr Snoop and helper are doing and lend a hand.

                        Have a great day, everyone.

We have a very good charity shop in our area...St Vincent de Paul and they are always so busy.
Shows that people are quite willing to buy pre owned goods.

Not a lot else to report,,,just off out to the church.
                          Have a good day all,

My GH overnight low was 8c the warmest yet this year.
We have 5 charity shops in our little town those near to car parks receive the most donations' often putting signs outside saying 'no donations today' I've had a few good items in the past but these days its mostly jigsaws I buy.

                            enjoy your day

                            • Good evening.

I went to visit my niece for coffee and cake this afternoon. I took prosecco. My sister took homemade quiche and a victoria sponge. My niece had mad a chocolate brownie and some rice crispie cake. We sat out in the warm sunshine in the back garden with my sister's dog. It was a lovely afternoon.
