  • Good morning all, it's another bright and breezy morning here.
A trip to the library this morning and then to the surgery to have my covid jab this afternoon.

Nicos, sorry to hear you've been in the wars, hope you are back to your old self soon.

Snoop, enjoy the day, it sounds like a lovely way to celebrate St George's day.

Just remembered we have a tens machine somewhere in the house....now where did I put it?

    Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I've never eaten chia, but I caught a utoob video yesterday showing that you can sprout them like mustard and cress, so thought I'd give it a go. Being tiny seeds they should be ready in just a few days. At £2.50 for 250g, that's a penny a gram so value for money for fresh microgreens, I thought.

The chia sprouts are tiny, half the size of cress, and oh my goodness they tasted so bitter I had to spit them out!

Oh, that's a shame. I was quite intrigued to know how they'd do. I must admit I thought they'd turn out slimy (I'm not a fan of food that's mucilaginous - thank you, spell checker, I'd never have got that word right on my own).

I put them in overnight oats. What do you use them for, MH? Anyone else got any suggestions?

          • Very warm here, no breeze and full sun. Tackled mum's and our shopping , prob bit too much with all the driving too. Mum has gone on about a different toaster like the one she had but she threw away , a 2 long slot one in white she wanted, I found one last week and has been using it. She rang to say it's blown up ..just what I needed to hear today.

Mini magnums are just the right size, I usually buy mine from Iceland instead of the real thing.

I've not used them before. I only got them to try as sprouting seeds. I tried some soaked and sweetened, and as seeds they have no flavour, do they? it was like eating flavourless tapioca. I'll have to use them up in porridge or something.

I use them because of their protein and fibre.

Ditto. But they don't bring much joy to your life. Not like strawberry mivvies or mini magnums...
