  • Mornin n’alln’all

We just have two bags for recycling- one for paper and cardboard products and plastics and tins and the other for household waste . They are both see through bags and if they see we get it wrong then they won’t take them
Not easy when you have gites as they just don’t care and we mostly have to go through them…yuk.
Glass and garden waste - we have to take to the skips ourselves…building waste ( eg concrete and metal)has to go to another.
Neighbours help each other out…” going to the tip- need anything taking.”

Grory hop for me too Bren

Have a great day everyone …and remember to pass on those lovely smiles!

      • Good morning all. A Lovely bright sunny morning at 6 degs but its all downhill from early afternoon.
Rain and misery fore ast for the rest of the week.
Regarding bin charges, we have 3 bins, brown waste, Green waste, and black for any other waste.
We pay €288 per year oe €24 per month with a weekley collection.

Mothhawk, we had to do the rounds of the supermarkets yesterday before we could find any easter eggs, they were all sold out except the very large ones.

Hoping to get a bit more gardening done today if the weather cooperates.

Snoop, that dog should be called Houdini...you really do need to be one step ahead.
        Have a good day all,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

        • Funny how different everywhere is. Our recycling has bags and a green box (not that we've ever received either so I toddle up to the recycling centre up the road ech week), soon to be replaced by bins so one for plastics glass cans and another for card. We have a black refuse too. All on rotating fortnightly collections.

            • Good morning.

Another atrocious nights sleep! I think I dozed on and off but that's all.

I've just rung my brother in law to tell him I'll call round to see him later and sort out his new telephone. The district nurse was with him when I rang, changing a dressing. I had a chat with her, too.

I asked my brother in law if he wants anything else taking round .... more cup a soups is his only request. He must like them as I took him a dozen the other day. At least they have a few calories in them. I'll pop into the local supermarket to get him some and have a look if there's anything else that might tempt him. I don't care if it's not particularly healthy as long as it encourages him to eat.

My washer is ready to go on too.

              • Good afternoon a cool but sunny day, was up early to take grandson over to his new job, he worked as a groundsman with a landscape company who had work with a number of councils unfortunately with so many cutbacks that work was drying up, got paid off last week, but he now has been started with someone else, I think he got the new job because he was always on time and never missed a day, there had been a number of pay offs last year in previous employer but he was kept on because he is dependable so hoping he does as well with the new employer, it was frosty when going out this morning, and is suddenly struck me that I had erected a poly shelter over the top of my garlic bulbs, which of course requires frost to help them form the cloves, what a mistake to make, now been sorted but definitely not telling anyone off to make a wee shiverin bite then back out to the garden, Iwish you all a pleasant day and remember to pass on any smiles

                • Sounds like you're having a really productive day CG - yay you

That's a good idea re. your brother-in-law GF - it's hard to entice anyone when they lack an appetite but we're all more tempted by the naughtier treats. For healthy/healthier treats I can't resist picking at grapes or chocolate covered raisins/nuts if their in reaching distance or are out-in-the open somewhere I walk past frequently. Milkshakes/yoghurts might be another one - especially those nice creamy yoghurts with the compotes on the side bit to tip in.

That's great news about your grandson being able to find new work straight away rary - he clearly has a great work ethic

Gone ever so cold here this afternoon - have had to put a jumper on & the heating Was quite comfortable in a t-shirt indoors earlier.

                  • I think we might be hogging the sun this afternoon.
We ended up doing a mega shop and have only just got back and unpacked. My back certainly isn’t up to gardening…even light pottering at the moment…but quite possibly later on thanks to the extra hour of daylight!

                    Treat??…mini jam donuts
                    Shhhhh…

                    • Our sun's back too - heating off & jumper also shortly I imagine

It's surprising how it takes a little while to get 'allotment fit' isn't it - I did a fair bit of raking the other Sunday & it took me until Thursday for all the different achy areas to stop aching!

I love those little mini treats - I hope they're the ones with the properly crispy outside (not the soggy mushy ones the supermarkets carry here) yum

                      • It's warm in the sun here too, lovely to get outside. I've tidied up my strawberries and moved a weeping cherry in a tub to where I can see it - though I might regret that tomorrow! A friend of ours whom we haven't seen for a while called this morning with a present for me. An Apple tree. Such a nice gift, but as you all know, my old tree gives me loads already. It's a Golden Delicious. I'm wondering if I could keep it dwarf in a tub?

                          • Morning all,i have had a chuckle at reading back,Snoop Jack sounds like some canni canine, all the best with the tiling,it has gone very chilly to what it was,we have been spoiled with the warmer stuff, where is time going, when we kids it was so slow, and now it's who has shortened the week and stollen the time, what used to take a few mins, now needs time to think about it first,i seem to be worse this year,as regards over wintering,i must be turning into a hibernator of some kind, unless age is catching up,perish the thought, hope our holybobs in a few days time will do some good, sea air and all that,a good chillout we hope, yesterday was the funeral of the little girl that got a lot off cards, and the bikers came again to show their respects,it was on the TV last night, the reporter was standing almost on my front with her camera,so sad,the street was lined in places with peeps, again we not tolled of the the happenings,it was by chance we was going out and manged to just get out the street, only to be held up over a mile away to let the bikers pass over a junction, the event was more like a state event, the little girl certainly had a good send of to heaven.
I starten writing this earlier on,then the phone rang, then a rush round to get ready and out, backnow and hungry,i and need to scout round the kitchen for ideas, after finishing the post,it would not send,i kept getting a error message,i had to come out off it,and thought i lost my writing, but got it back by pressing the restore,it must have been on account off a few hours between, have a nice eveinng all

                            • I called round to see my brother in law, Mr GF's youngest brother, earlier. He seems more frail every time I see him. I sorted out his new (landline) phone for him and added his contacts. I took him some more cup a soups and a "pot noodle" to try.

I can see how frail he is and honestly I don't know if I can do this again....

I have found that I can now talk to people quite normally until they mention Mr GF, either directly or, sometimes more obscurely. Then, still floods of tears😭😭😭

                              • HI GF,you are doing absolutely fine,it affects everyone differently, there is no two journeys the same, the feelings just grab you any time anywhere, there is no special way to deal with things, yourself and feelings just take over, just do not hold back, just let things happen, even when driving, just let it flow,it's natures way,but always remember we are here for you,am sure others will agree with me,it's a feeling that only those that have gone through it know just how it affects you,it is true that time will help, and there is no time limit to it,xx
