  • Afternoon n’alln’all

Nice weather here again so we decided to come home rather than head out in the camper…we’re both fancying getting stuck into the gardening rather than sitting and reading in a forest.

GF…you don’t know how lucky you are…I can feel seasick on a barge…rowing boats on lakes and pedaloes I’m ok with too
I absolutely dread the ferry crossings.

I love the sound of marinas…the clanking sounds of the masts is lovely. I guess I spent too long in bars next to marinas in Greece as a student

Burnie…I’ve only found the odd cuttlefish on the shores of Normandy…interesting find! My chooks love pecking at them.

Hope everyone has a good day…the smiles passed over early and sprinkled happy dust in my direction…Hope you all get your fair share x

    • Just had a walk along the sea front and round the harbour between the showers, not much wildlife about as the seas are still rough, we did see an Otter run across the road on the way there, there's a large pond close by, didn't know it had anything living in it for an Otter, it's a field irrigation pond that can get almost emptied when pumping water onto the tattie fields.

      • Nicos, I also get seasick on ferries unless I'm laid flat. The first ferries I used to take (four long hours in good weather) were to the Isle of Man. After my first trip I either got a cabin or flew. I soon sussed out, even as a naive teenager, that as soon as the ferry set sail, even if all the "official" cabins were booked, a single person could go to see the purser and would be allocated an officers cabin very cheaply. I know I've had the First Engineers cabin and the Captains Day Cabin.

Very large ships, liners, are a different kettle of fish, and although I have taken seasickness tablets in really rough seas I've never actually been sick.

Yachts, generally, are no problem as the movement is completely different. I remember the first time I sailed on one, off the Dutch coast, in the North Sea, I was more than happy to go into the galley and make bacon sandwiches.

I definitely cannot read in a car either🤮🤢

        • Good morning.

Definitely pre-dawn, although I did hear a lone bird chirping a few minutes ago. I've given up on sleep and turned the heating up with the intention of making a sortie to the kitchen shortly. My only dilemma. Should I have milk and fridge cake, in the vain hope of going back to sleep, or just give in to the insomnia, and have coffee? I think coffee is going to win

I don't know why ferries always make me feel seasick but I do remember the first time I booked the Channel Tunnel instead. I never caught a cross channel ferry again. The only thing I missed? The white cliffs of Dover. I don't know why, but they've always seemed happy to welcome me home from my travels.

I have a small grory hop due this lunchtime. 15 items for forty odd quid. I have a vague memory of wandering round the supermarket years ago and thinking that generally the items worked out to an average of 50p each, so 15 would have been £7.50!

Right, decision made. I'm going to grab my fleece hoodie and go make coffee.

Mmmm, coffee Once upon a time I never made my own coffee. It was one of Mr GF's jobs and he was very good at it.

The postman should also be collecting a parcel today, a birthday present for one of my great-nephews.

Also we should be getting a hospital bed delivered for Mr GF. I have made room for it in the lounge, next to the window where at least he'll be able to see the outside world as well as the TV. I have mixed feelings about it. I'm sure that it will be very useful in helping him sit up etc, but I will really miss snuggling up next to him. Might there just be room for an extra little 'un on occasion.

I've just had a confirmation email for my grory hop. No substitutions. I've just realised that the tulips I had delivered last Tuesday are still looking good.

          See you all later.

          • Morning all, morning GF.

My dad, who was the one who had to move out of the bedroom, really missed the easy snuggles with my mum. But where there's a will, with any luck there'll be a way, GF.

I agree about the cost of shopping, GF. I don't know how families manage.

Not sure quite what's happening to the weather today. Yet more drizzle but a high of around 20 ºC. Back into single digits on Thursday but dry. I'll try and have an outdoor day then. As for today, loads of work. Plus I didn't sleep at all well, so will need to have a nap this afternoon.

Hope you're seeing some improvement, rary. And your OH.

            Have a great day, everyone.

Rain here for us again, so this afternoon I'll get my latest jigsaw puzzle out there's a lot more sky than there looked on the box. Apart from that domestics and nipping out for fish.

              Enjoy your day

                • Damp and dark, little wind but a dry 6 degrees, it feels colder out there though as the wind swings round from the north.

                  • Afternoon n’alln’all

We decided to drag each other screaming and kicking to the swimming pool today…neither of us wanted to go, but actually quite enjoyed ourselves in the end.
We had the kiddies pool completely to ourselves, so spent an hour doing simple exercises and gentle swimming.
Followed by a grory hop. Just got back and finished unpacking.
Really aching now , so it just goes to show how quickly you can get unfit!…at least we should be better prepared for this coming gardening season if and when it finally arrives
Its been drizzling on and off so we wouldn’t have been gardening anyway.

Hope everyone is having a great/ reasonable day?

                    • Evening folks, just back from a couple of days in Ayrshire.
Did next to nothing and just relaxed reading and going for walks.
Family arriving on Saturday so need to get the house in order over the next few days but looking forward to seeing them.
Enjoy the rest of your evening. x

                        • Morning all.

Well done you on the exercise, Nicos. I've been out with the dog so far and will try and have breaks from work on the exercise bike today (I'm ashamed to say it has barely been used since we bought it, originally for Mr Snoop). Possibly a bit of weeding this afternoon depending on the weather.

Other than that, it's head down at the computer. Deadlines have passed...

                          Have a great day, everyone.

Another day of rain, so no stroll today. I've not been swimming for ages Nicos its something I used to enjoy doing.

It sounds like you had the perfect break Jay

A bit of weeding and dying in my GH but thats it for gardening.

                            enjoy your day

                            • Morning all.

Drizzly rain but a mild 11C. Hope nobody is being flooded out with all this rain. Makes me appreciate a bit what life must be like in countries that have regular monsoons. We are so lucky to have a temperate climate with few extremes. (for now).

Swimming in winter, Nicos? Well done, but it's not for me. School memories of leaving the baths damp and clammy after rushing to change so as not to miss the bus.
