  • Good afternoon, dry but cloudy with patches of sunshine , OH still not improving much, actually has just been quiet sick, will need to try and get something which she can eat before taking all her pills, as I think something in her stomach might help her keep them down, we were at the hospital where she got an x-ray in November and she was admitted to hospital in December and we just got informed on Friday morning hat the x-ray showed she has fluid in her lungs, I suppose the racing heart beat would take a higher priority, though still not to happy about this.
Ihope you all have a good day and get the opportunity to enjoy your garden and dont forget to pass on your smiles
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

    • At the moment Mr GF's favourite food seems to be smooth soup. He doesn't like chicken soup. His favourite soups are: Curried sweet potato OR tomato and aubergine OR potato and leek OR mushroom. I usually blend a generous amount of cottage cheese or poached scallops into the soup at the end to add protein. Has anybody any ideas for any different, tasty, smooth soups. No lentils or other pulses please.

I seem to have REALLY over-ordered milk in my online shop. It looks as if it will be milk with everything this week. It's a good job that I like milk. I know that in theory you can freeze fresh milk but I have got absolutely no freezer space.

      • Pea soup with sour cream or creme fraiche? Lightly spiced carrot and apple soup (I use garum masala)? Lightly spiced parsnip and oat soup? Courgette and blue cheese soup? Cauli, pear and blue cheese? Broccoli and creme fraiche or blue cheese? I've never made oxtail soup, but might that appeal? Bet you could make it with any cut of beef.

        • Sorry to hear about your OH, Rary. Not good. Have they come up with a treatment plan, or are they just diagnosing one problem after another? I'm not surprised you're not happy. Must be very hard for your OH:

Bit of an up-and-down morning. But I got home to discover that for one of my deliveries, I'd received someone else's order rather than my own. Four boxes of mini chocolate muffins (6 kg, 480 muffins in total). Told to keep them and they'll send me the stuff I was due to receive. My supposedly delivered chicken brick was nowhere to be seen... But I imagine it'll turn up somewhere.

The rain forecast is getting worse by the day. Usually it gets better. Fingers crossed the clouds and the weather folk have a rethink, otherwise we could be in for a bit of a flood. The ground is still really wet and the track has still got mini ponds dotted along it from the last lot of rainfall and we're forecast a lot more than that, starting tomorrow.

          • 480 muffins ? Gosh me thinks you’ll be needing some help getting through those! Darn…there goes any thoughts of dieting then . Can’t let them go to waste! Hope they weren’t for a wedding feast? Someone is going to be upset they didn’t arrive first them.

We had a really good vet visit today - tumour has shrunk down from 10 to 8cm , and most of the blood results had improved too. A couple of changes to her medication and she doesn’t feel she needs to see her for 3 weeks!
Hibou was hissing and spitting at any dog who went to sniff at her basket…more like her old self…but as sweet as butter with the vet. Such a love.

              • Whilst I enjoyed the Westerns on tv I was more of a Robin Hood or Ivanhoe kind of lad. We all had bows and arrows, made swords from out of the hedgerows along with catapults(I wonder if there's an app for making those these days lol).

                  • Evening all.

The muffins were intended for a café in Alicante (order sheet was included with mine in the box). They're really small - 12.5 g each - and are intended as a little supposed 'freebie', though not really, along with a coffee. But yes, there are rather a lot of them!

                    Excellent news about Hibou.

And well done you, LD, for getting that on record.

I used to really like Ivanhoe too, Burnie. Robin Hood too.

                    • Good morning.

An awful night's sleep. It's 5am and I'm considering turning the heating up having a coffee and then when the bathroom is nice and warm having an early shower.

When I looked outside an hour or so ago it looked really murky, almost foggy. If I concentrate hard I can hear the faint hum of traffic on the M1. I can only hear that when the air is damp. I remember, when it was newly opened in the mid-1960s, I could see all the headlights and taillights from my bedroom window at night. I used to love to watch them, wondering where all the traffic was going.

6am. I have eventually given in and got round to making coffee, while watching one of my neighbours de-ice his car. I've also turned the thermostat up.

                      Nicos, great news about Hibou.

Snoop Puss, how on earth are you going to get through all those muffins? Have you got any room in your freezer?

Rary, I hope that you can find a way to help your wife be more comfortable and keep her food and pills down. It is so awful to feel helpless.

Lottie, I hope you sort out what is happening with the DVLA. I agree, It sounds very dodgy indeed.

Burnie, I remember making a catapult, bows and arrows, and a pea shooter. I had a cap gun that fired lumps of potato. I also had a toy hand grenade and handcuffs. I must have been a very weird little girl One of my grannys never gave up trying to civilise me and teach me to embroider, crochet, knit and tat.

                        Frosty again today brrrrrr

Ld that does sound strange I hope you get some help from the police.
Rary I feel for your wife, being ill is hard.
                        Hibou Well done.
Cowboys and Indians were on quite a bit when I was younger having brothers also the games that followed
Mum still watches them as used to be taken to the pictures...yep by her brother
                        Star Trek fan here too.

Had Mum to her gp appt then went via sainsburys and picked up shopping, she stays in the car people watching. They had daffodils so got us both some
She felt better for being out, I think I've convinced her we should go out often for her mental wellbeing and she does agree. Just can't walk far with her current problems and waiting for an operation still so a cafe with not far to walk would suit. No use going to a big garden centre as she couldnt walk about.
Even wondered about a lightweight wheelchair to get her round the supermarket for a look or a big garden centre.
Anyone used a lightweight one? or any ideas.

                        • Containergardener, my brother in law got an NHS wheelchair with the big wheels but never used it really as it was so heavy. He then bought a lightweight one. Similar to look at but so much easier to manoeuvre, and lift. I bought Mr GF a lightweight one, very similar to his brother's but without the big wheels. The lighter the better, and it helps if they can be dismantled, folded quickly too. This is the one I got my husband.

                          • Morning all.

My mum's life was revolutionised when she got a lightweight wheelchair, CG. She could go out more, not just shopping but to restaurants and pubs. A big investment if you think you might not need it for long if her operation is imminent, but if that might take a while, a wheelchair gets a big thumb's up from me.

As for the muffins, they're individually wrapped, but freezing is a good idea. Loads will go as gifts. In any case, I made a mistake about the weight, they're less than 10 g each. They're about the size of a china thimble. I'll put a big bowl out to go with brews. Good idea, CG.

Lots of very tedious paid work to do this morning. Then preparations for rain, due to start this evening. In between times, lunch with M. I've at last told him I don't like mushrooms that much unless they're cooked from dry to a chewy texture rather than in fat, when I find they have a slimy texture. He's got into the Zoe gut health podcasts and is currently adding mushrooms to just about everything...

Right, better get the day on the road. Have a great one, everyone.

Yes that's the only thing being short term Snoop because she wants to be active again, maybe there's less expensive ones around. Will research.

                              Also.
Grow trug/trough things on legs. Anyone used them. I'm sure someone did on here at some point.
For mum not me. She has a big area that flat outside her back door which gets either morning or afternoon sun.

Snoop China thimble size? I'd get 5 in my mouth at once then😄
