  • Mornin n’alln’all
Glad you had a good sleep GF …makes all the difference doesn’t it?

Oh yes…those paper lanterns with slits!…I’d forgotten about those. I’m so looking forward to crafting with her.

I think I must be pinching the sunshine at the moment?….but it’s pretty brrrr and damp having rained most of the night.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend? Not many left now until Xmas!
I think I’ll ask OH if he could please put up the Xmas lights in the plum tree this week in preparation. The electric cable has to run across the gravel driveway so we ( see Rary…I used the royal ‘we’ ) need to make a 4” trench to accommodate a scaffolding pole through which the electric cable is passed. Otherwise it would stand a chance of being pierced by the gravel. If the gravel can cause a puncture ( happened twice now) then it’s enough to cut an electric cable when being driven over
It shouldn’t take long….not if I tell him to hurry up

    te he…
Right…surely it’s time for another brew?

Enjoy your day peeps, I’ll leave the tea and coffee to hand for you.
And remember those lovely smiles of yours….

    • I've just remembered once making a chicken wire and tissue paper snowman. I have a feeling that it looked quite "abominable" when it was done

Inspired by Rary, I've rung the doctors surgery. Lately, I've been really struggling to get Mr. GF to take tablets, particularly later in the day. He is obviously in pain a lot of the time, which is making it hard for him to move, but he still refuses to take a tablet and just moans and groans. I've asked the doctor's if they have any alternatives ..... we shall see. Someone is calling to see him.

        • Good morning all, dull and overcast but its a mild 7 degs.
No plans for the day but I am sure I will find plenty to do if I look.
          Have a good day all.

          • Afternoon all.

Been busy this morning but feel like I haven't got very far. Most important job done: picked up my flour delivery, the first one in absolutely ages. Really hoping to find time for baking again soon.

It's been bright and breezy so far. A bit chilly, though, but we've had all the doors open to let a bit of fresh air in. Getting distinctly cold now though, so all shut up and I'm about to light the range.

Glad you managed to get a good night's sleep, GF. Hope Mrs Rary managed another good one.

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

            • I’ve felt cold waking up over this past couple of weeks…mentioned it to OH and he suggested the duvet ( down) might be getting a bit old.
Or maybe there is something not right with me healthwise as he’s fine.
So I kept quiet and started wearing a thermal vest in bed.
Anyway- I checked whilst changing the cover today…it’s only the summer one still on He’d kept assuring me it was the 9 tog…but it wasn’t ..it was the 4.5 ( they seperate or clip together)
Just goes to show how we women can feel the cold morethan men!

Guess who will be throwing his duvet off in the middle of the night…and who will be cosily snuggled up

              Oh no Rary…another example eh?

              • Afternoon

Picked up a nice crochet book plus a ‘home-grown harvest’ cookery book, had a quick flip through and found a few recipes we’d actually use.

It’s looking like you’ll be cosy in bed tonight Nicos, do you think MrN will notice the difference.

                • Good evening all..The day turned out bright and sunny, though the breeze was on the cool side, Spent a few hours in the garden.Pulled up all the Verbena Bonaris that had self seeded. Cut down the dahlia foliage and covered the crowns with fresh soil. Started off my garlic in modules in the greenhouse, Raked up all the leaves for now. The garden looks so much better now. Very pleased to have got that much done after all the wet days,

                    • Nicos, I am so pleased to have made the decision to go for individual quilts. No need for one of us to be too hot/cold. I was recommending this to the sister that I only see very rarely. She agreed but says she also insists on separate beds and separate rooms.

The doctor visited earlier, the new one that I have no confidence in.

                      .........

Maybe ... No, no maybe about it, I shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions ..... the young doctor who called earlier has just rung me to say she has changed Mr GF's prescription to a slow release tramadol which should last 12 hours ... thank you for letting me know it even exists, Rary.

I'm not sure why there was a delay on changing Mr GF's prescription, but maybe it's to do with it being a strong painkiller and her not knowing him ..... or me. Or if she thought something else might be more suitable., or if she talked to another doctor in the practice who knows Mr GF well. She did have a conversation with (a nearly tearful) me today about anticipatory medications ... not needed yet we decided. She has very little in the way of bedside manner yet, but how on earth do young doctors learn? I must try and not jump to conclusions.

Nicos, I can't stop grinning thinking about the shock that Mr Nicos is going to get to his (overheated) system tonight.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Two occupational therapists also called round. They were really nice.

The district nurse is calling tomorrow.

                      • Good evening, was down at the clinic for it opening at 8.30 this morning to see if someone could come to the house and take a blood same from OH, as if I had to bring her down to the clinic today she would be unable to travel to the hospital tomorrow, any bump in the road aggravates her back pain, unfortunately they dont do that, so I cancelled todays visit and rearranged it for tomorrow, hopefully I can time of arriving back into the town to coincide with the allocated time for the sample, after that I picked up one of the grandsons to take him to the orthodontist, and on the way back I collected some seaweed, it only took ten minutes to collect some, so was back home quite quickly, once home and having made a coffee for the two of us I went out and removed three wall baskets containing hanging geraniums, surviving quite well from I would think the heat off the house wall, was getting ready to go up to the church for a funeral service when someone came to the door to see if I could give a hand with an elderly neighbour whom the said had collapsed, so headed round to her house, and told the person to phone for an ambulance, got in the house only to discover the neighbour was dead, and in my estimate had died several hours previously, so not the best of days for me as I had to contact her family and give them the sad news, so forgive me for no smiles this evening, but I do wish you all well

                        • So sorry to hear that, Rary. A dreadful situation. But I imagine you passed on the news in a more sympathetic manner than they might have had from someone in an official capacity. Some comfort to them and to you.

Hope everything goes satisfactorily at the hospital.
