  • Morning all.

Helpers busy outside. Not quite as cold as forecast, luckily for them. Jack confined to barracks and very cross, as he wants to go out and play with them. It's going to be a noisy morning indoors.

Some domestics and paid work for the day for me if Jack will let me.

    Have a great day, everyone.

    • Mornin n’alln’all

Very fine drizzle here since I went to bed, and it’s melted all the remaining snow.
I crashed out last night and ended up having 10 hrs sleep..so sorry GF…I think I hogged the sleep fairy.* passes the sleep fairy back to GF with a couple of fresh butter croissants tucked into her pocket.

Not sure what today will entail but I have a feeling that a blazing woodfire will somehow be involved

I think we may well be watching muppets Christmas this year seeing my almost 5yr old will be with us over the festive season. She’s not normally allowed to watch TV ( they don’t have one!) so that will feel extra special for her.
      Also ‘The Snowman’.
Is there anything else which is a classic which she may well have missed out on so far, but would hold her attention?

My two old classics are Alister Sym’s version too plus ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ My mom always seemed to be wrapping pressies when that was on so, by association, it has a feel good factor for me. How strange to think that all these years later we can choose almost whatever we want to watch whenever we want.

      Right…stuff to do…
Ta muchly to whoever left the brew on a tray for me…it’s gone down a treat…anyone fancy a top up?

Enjoy your day peeps, and remember to share your lovely smiles.

      • Good morning, just had a full nights sleep, so evidently the slow release tablet are working, its raining at the moment and I think the forecast is wet for most of the day, though wont bother me too much as I will only be out to church then will bevin all day, I can take my phone with me and if OH needs me she can send a message, so wont be left completely on her own. Snoop as the bed would be for OH it wont be a problem with expense, whereas if it was for me ,oh boy that would be different and in case you are wondering, yes I am henpecked, I suppose like most husbands we are just there to do as we are told
On that note I will go and see what I have to do before I go out, or should that be, allowed out🤔 Have a good day and pass on your smiles

The early morning rain has petered out and the rest of the day is supposed to be dry. I can see a bit of blue sky, and the clouds have sun tipped edges. Kettle's on for more tea, no Yorkshire brew here I'm afraid, Nicos, as I take my tea black and Yorkshire is too strong to have like that, so the choice is Earl Grey, Lady Grey, lemon green, or sencha rose. Take your pick or bring your own bags.
MH I've been given a box of lemon and ginger tea its a nice warming drink that's a change from my usual Co-op tea.

            • Rary - great to hear the slow release medication has done the trick. Fingers crossed it continues to do so….and your OH manages to top up her sleep bank.
Hen pecked?????…my OH wouldn’t know what to do if a hen came up and pecked him ( well…without me telling him what to do)

We have hunters in the woods next to our house at the moment. Loads of dogs barking, horns blowing and men shouting. OH phoned the owner of the field who expressly forbids hunting on his property- signs everywhere- but apparently the head of the commune ( bit like the top mayor in the area can override an owners rights if they get enough complaints about property damage by wild boar. Looks like they hit the magic number.
In reality , earlier in the year we saw a family of wild boar running through the woods- maybe 8 / 10 youngsters with an adult…plus heard some snuffling around the falling chestnuts in the middle of the night.
Handy that it’s in the run up to Xmas…I can see a lot of wild boar pate etc being given as gifts here in the next few weeks!

Not a Christmas but firm favourite....The cat in the hat...full of fun and mischief.
If she is enjoying books then Dr Seuss books are full of fun.

                    • Great news about the pain relief, Rary.

As for husbands doing what they're told, I reckon all partners think they do what they're told. I know I do and I'm sure Mr Snoop thinks he does.

                            • Good morning

Apart from a short interruption at around 4am, when I put the TV on for a short while, I have slept for at least 7 solid hours. I feel like a human being again and have already made and drunk my first mug of coffee

The sky is already lightening, but we have no sunshine in our forecast for today, just cloud and rain. At least we're only a month off the shortest day. I hate it when it gets dark, not long after lunchtime It is so, so depressing and makes the chilly afternoons/evenings feel never ending. This must be the worst time of year

Nicos, at your granddaughter's age I remember making lots of paper decorations with my grandparents. Paper chains, snowflakes, lanterns, etc. I think we just made them out of old newspapers, with the help of child size blunt scissors, and some paste/glue, but I was still very proud of my efforts. I also have some half remembered memory of making a bizarre looking nativity scene in a shoebox where nothing was to scale. I'd probably win a Turner prize for it these days

Time for more coffee, I think.

Our girls liked to collect pine cones, painting them then decorating with glitter or sequins. Another favourite was making decorations using egg boxes decorated with paint and glitter again. Both very messy but fun.

I'm having a stroll over to the library later to look at crocheting books, i do have some but fancy a change.

                                Enjoy your day
