Mornin n’alln’all
Another misty start to the day. If it turns out like yesterday then it’s going to be another lovely day.
I’ll get the domestics done this morning then play it by ear. As per usual…lots to choose from both indoors and out. Or…I could just sit and read a book.
MH…I spotted a buzzard in the middle of the road a few years ago. I stopped and picked it up and was shocked at how light it was….and how big its talons and wings are!
It was clearly concussed as its head was actually spinning. I checked it’s wings and legs for obvious fractures and any blood but it otherwise seemed fine….so I popped it gently into a large carrier bag and took it to a quiet spot well away from the road and left it under a hedge ( not in the bag of course!). A couple of hours later- after I’d been to my appointment I decided if it was still there I’d take it to a vet, but it’d gone…no signs of it anywhere. I’m so glad I saved it from being squashed…and that it had clearly recovered
enough to fly away.
A wonderful experience….so I can imagine how shocked , yet chuffed, you must have been to experience such an encounter.
Whatever you all get up to, enjoy your day peeps
…and remember that smile!Last edited by Nicos; 15-08-2025, 06:39 AM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Morning all.
Really should be heading out with Jack before it gets too hot, but the air is still cool and fooling me into thinking I've got plenty of time still. Another four days of unseasonably hot weather and then we'll drop about 10 ºC for daytime highs. What a relief. Night time lows will be around the same. But life will be a lot easier.
Got more than enough to keep me busy today, so better set to.
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning all.
Another hot night. The temperature today is dropping again ....thank goodness, and hopefully will continue to do so for all the next week. Hard to believe that in a few short weeks I'll no doubt be moaning that I'm cold!
I need to call round and check up on my brother in law later.
My sister received her Amazon parcel yesterday afternoon. She texted me straight away to say what a good idea it was. I had texted her to let her know that she was receiving a parcel but hadn't told her what was in it. We usually restrict our communications in the week to texts as when we talk on the phone we can't seem to shut up.
Thank heavens for unlimited calls.
I remember that back in the 60s and 70s, trunk calls, connected by an operator, could be extortionate, particularly before 6pm.
As for international calls.

Amazing that now I can chat, with video, to far flung relatives over my wi-fi, at no extra charge. My sister has been known to call our brother and then put the phone on the dining table, on speaker, so that he could join in the chat at a family meal even though he's in Australia.
Time to make more coffee.....

Good morning all, itsa beautiful misty morning with a real feel of autumn in the air.
Grory hop and a visit to the post office. and maybe pop into the library.
A bit of pottering this afternoon.
Have a good day all.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Good evening, it has turned out to be a warm day again, unfortunately I had to start taking another type of tablet for the high blood pressure this morning and with those I got an appointment for a blood test in a fortnights time, so not very happy with that, this is one ofthe reasons I am not too keen on having to take medication, and yes I am aware that a lot of people require medication to help and sometimes keep them alive, I happen to be in that group, but still wary of taking too many tablets, anyway we were going to head out to a GC this morning but OH would s still too sore, but as we weren't going for anything special I was quite happy to spend the day futtering about in the back garden, I have lifted my onions and they are now drying off in the greenhouse. One of our neighbours popped in for a blether, followed shortly after by her husband, they are moving house shortly as they have difficulty with the stairs, I will be very sad to see them go, but can understand the reason, we do have rooms upstairs but dont use them very often they are used mostly by the grandchildren and the are all getting that bit older, thu they do sometimes have a sleep over, but a bit disappointed with my neighbour as he wants me to wait till he gets some of the stuff he is throwing out into a skip he's just throwing out mattresses and tge likes, Ihave a garage full of more interesting stuff
right off to make the tea have a good relaxing evening and keep the smiles going

Morning all.
Very frustrating about the skip, LD. You could be right about them leaving them until someone else comes along, wanting to hire it. Hope they take it away soon.
Sounds like you've got a great onion harvest, rary. Any chance of a picture over on the usual thread? https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...lowers-of-2025
Just got back from a morning walk with E and his dog. Jack absolutely loves it now. A great outing, somewhat marred by Jack biting me on the derrière because he didn't want to get in the car to come home. Looks like we'll be extending the walk when the temperatures cool down. Top twenties already by the time I got back to the car at 8.15 am. Don't fancy adding another hour to the walk just yet.
On the cards for today: clearing out the gas fridge, which has really struggled in the heat, domestics, bread-baking and some work for clients, at long last. Roll on retirement...
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning, not sure how the weather will be today as it's complete cloud cover at present, not even a small bit of blue showing, the cloud cover is high so should stay dry for a time, now that Ihave emptied my onion bed I need to get sons seaweed but if I go over to collect some I,will get dogs abuse "You've been told relax and take it easy" I could write the script for it, my relaxing is to do something I enjoy and I enjoy gardening and all associated activities, I'm not necessarily that good at it but I enjoy it
so that means I'm relaxing, we are invited up to our son's today for lunch, so wont bedojng too much garden wise this morning, as I will be told "dont you be doing, anything that gets you dirty" I'm convinced OH thinks I go out the back door and look to see what job will get me the dirtiest
anyway, Snoop you mentioned elsewhere that you have learned a new word, I dont use new words all the words I use I have used them for well over sev,,,, never mind how many years Iwill just say a good number of years
Have a good day folks and keep smiling but please remember to pass them on

Good morning all, a misty start to the day but the sun is on the way,
We will go to the library this morning....never got around to it yesterday,
Rary, my brother in law is 88 and spends as much tme as he can in his garden because he loves it.
His wife is the same, discouraging him from doing anything she thinks is strenuous. Could write the script.
Have a good day all, enjoy the sunny weather.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Good morning all.
It's a very grey morning here. When I awoke, I thought it was still night as the sky was so dark. It did brighten up slightly, but as soon as I set the washer off, it darkened again. The forecast on my phone says that we now have showers in the vicinity.
The district nurse is due again today to see Mr GF. Thanks to the spray that she got the doctor to prescribe his pressure sore is just about healed now.
The district nurse has now been and he has now been signed off as she is happy with his skin. She has told me to carry on with the once a day spray for another week or so. She has left me their phone number for if he has any more problems.
His next scheduled visit isn’t for another month when he will be having another vitamin B12 injection.
I am trying to decide if I dare put the washing out. It's warm, but no sun or wind, and it still looks as if it might rain.
Rary, I wonder why you always seem to be in trouble?
Hopefully your new medication will help you, although I can understand your waryness.
Snoop, I hope that the dog bite wasn't serious!
