  • Brilliant news, Lottie. I bet you feel a whole lot better. Enjoy your holiday.

Well, the kingsize duvet washing was more or less a success. The duvet is nice and white and clean smelling. It came out of the washer a lot wetter than I anticipated. Obviously the washer didn't think that it had a balanced load so didn't do a proper spin. I put it out on the line this afternoon in the sunshine and it is nearly dry. It can go back outside in the morning.

I took my brother in law's heart monitor back at lunchtime. Literally a 3 minute job. I parked right outside the door, went in and put it in a clearly marked box on the reception desk. The last time that I had to return one to the hospital it was a good half hour job, involving a half mile hike across the car park and then having to negotiate never ending corridors and queue up to give the monitor back. Parking only free for 20 minutes of course. I've had a call tonight from Carelink. He's fallen again, but is fine. He's still got carers going in 4 times daily, but I'll call to see him again tomorrow.

I even managed to get Mr GF a bag of frozen croissants in the little Asda while I was out.

I think I'll try and go to sleep now. Sweet dreams everyone.

Kettle is on. GF when anything does that in mine (usually couch throws) I pull them out and put back in less in a ball and put on spin and drain cycle if you have a separate one of them.

Undecided whether to go and do the shopping today.

      • Morning all.

Bet you had a good night's sleep, LD. Sorry to hear about your legs, rary. Hope the doctor doesn't think you need the dreaded compression socks... My mum hated those.

Up to my eyeballs in work this morning, so just dropping in to say hello. Will catch you all later.

        Have a great day, everyone.

        • Mornin n’alln’all

Rubbish sleep again Ah well, I can always have a siesta!
Lottie…I’m guessing you had a great sleep knowing your wonderful news?..or are you all excited about your holiday now? I know I would be

Busy day ahead. I absolutely have to start doing more things with the plums. They are starting to drop off the tree fully ripe. ( I have 4 plum trees and this one is always first and the most productive ) The mirabelles are less than a week behind and both trees are heavily laiden. I don’t have much room in my freezers so I don’t really want to convert them into something needing freezing!
So…jams and chutneys today and freezing of ripe fruit. Then I need to start giving some away.
I still have litres of mirabelle gin and vodka from last year, so don’t want to make any more.
Do feel free to pop over and help yourselves!

I managed to get my ironing up to date yesterday and finally cleaned and tidied a couple of kitchen drawers which had gone beyond a joke.
Sounds like you had a good day too GF. Glad the duvet was a success.

Right…first things first….anyone else up for a brew?

Keep these lovely smiles of yours coming- I think lottie will be feeling radiant today

Oh…and Snoop - could you please warn those smiles not to fly too close to our plum trees- it looks like the wasps have moved on to them from the cherry trees

There’s a brew on the table for you.

Looks like I’ll be spending the day skating over a hot stove….and you’ll be slaving over your work! It’ll feel good to get it out of the way x

            • Thanks for the brew, Nicos. Very welcome.

After my recent stings, I'd say the smiles try to have nothing to do with wasps. I'll tell them for tomorrow, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Might your OH's chef friend take some fruit off you? In exchange for something from him?

              • Nicos I was reading about plums last night. I think it was Nigel Slater slater preserving whole plums and making plum sauce.
There was pickled whole plums too for cheese

Lottie great news. When do you go away?
Rary hopefully the lesser dose will help, or maybe a different one.

It looks like it will rain any minute but hasnt. I may sow some salads etc today. Feel the need to be amongst earth, my scan came back not normal so another referral.
I need to crack on jam making too.

                • Morning all.

Great news Lottie! Now you can relax to plan and enjoy your holiday.

I'll share a brew, Nicos, if there's some left. It's drizzly and grey outside, so I'm hoping the "rain before seven, fine before eleven" rule will come into play as I really need to run the mower over the grass to remove tufty bits and wispy grass flower stems.

Have you tried pickled plums, Nicos? I don't eat a lot of pickles except onions and piccalilli, so I'm not inclined to try it, but I found quite a few recipes while I was searching for something to do with my plums.

                        • Good morning all.

I slept like a baby last night. Mr GF did awaken me at 4.30, but I fell straight back to sleep. All in all I definitely got more than 7 wonderful hours.

The quilt is out on the line in the sunshine again. It really doesn't matter how long it takes to dry. I hopefully won't need it until Autumn. Containergardener, I couldn't rearrange it in the drum as, although it is a big drum, that can take a 9kg load, the quilt only just fitted in. I hope that your scan results aren't too serious. It can be so worrying, waiting to find out.

I've got another grory hop due for delivery shortly....... As if on cue it has just arrived. It's all got long dates and is now packed away. I seen to have got in front of myself with chocolate. I mustn't eat as much of it in Summer.

I've just rung my "idiot" brother in law. How did he fall? By getting into his chair from the side. He sat on the chair arm. It then tipped over with him in it, and he couldn't get up off the floor. I have obviously read him the riot act about bring careful, but I have a feeling that it went in one ear and out the other. I think Rary has been giving him lessons!

                          • good day all.woke earlier then fell asleep again in my chair, not long woke again, thank you all for the messages,i now have to sort the rest of me out, like what is causing the high discomfort,in my main trunk, and why i get and the voice box stuff still,i am pleased to say that i do feel so much better just lately as the iron pills must be kicking in,and last off all have that love and support in my life, you cannot beat it,ref holiday is not until the last week in September, have to pay up before close off business today,so we go after the dance, then see if i can get some insurance now,as was tolled by the travel company that i would not be granted any,but things have changed now,we going to the I O W,so that will be a job for tomorrow.
CG my thoughts are with you,Rary hope things improve for you.
Ref spare fruit or some veg,a few years ago i had an experiment with some beans, and it worked well,i part cooked the beans, then put unto warm jars, top up with hot water and any flavour you like, put the lids on,then boiled them in water in the jam pan for a bit, they sealed lovely,i took 1 on holiday as a trial and was very pleased, the lids sealed just like when done jam,so no reason some fruit should not work the same,i am a horder off jam jars that are suitable for this job,i have yet to try it again, hopefully next year, that way Nicos you would be able to take some out in your camper, plus they make nice gifts,so get everyone to save the jam jars when you come back to uk,as for timings of things, think doing jam,the jars and contents need to be very hot like the jam,as for how log they would last,is anyones guess, but home made jam lasts for ever if a good seal is achieved, have a good day all,and look afer them smiles, they deserve and award for their good work ,dance group this afernoon,

                              • Good afternoon, the day started with it being cool and a bit dull but now cleared up and the sun is out, OH has been going on about the boundary hedge needing cut back a bit, so I had asked someone if he could cut back the hedge for me , there's actually some Ash trees in it and I am quite sure they have Ash die back, so better getting the down and away, he came today and now that the work is done it does look better, though of course I will never tell OH that as I would never hear the end of it, I'm quite sure many of you will know what I mean, let a woman know they were right and oh-boy they are like computers never forgets and always bring up reminders now think its time I left enjoy the day and pass on some of your lovely smiles
