Morning all.

Did a grory hop early on, then a busy morning making jam and ice cream. Now I'm waiting for a charity to come and pick up walking frames and a wheelchair. They are coming from Manchester and doing a sweep of the Midlands, so I'm not sure when they will arrive. After that, it's out for a walk and then maybe a visit to the garden centre.

Typical weather forecast! It didn't rain when the forecast said it might. I put the washer on with a load of towels as there was supposed to be a negligable chance of rain later. The washer has just finished ..... and the rain has just started.Grrrr!

I went on Amazon to find some cake tin liners, not urgent. I would have happily waited to order them when I had another thirty odd pounds worth of goods, as delivery is free for over £35. Amazingly another thirty odd pounds worth of goods immediately jumped into my trolley. How does it happen?

mothhawk, did you swirl any of the jam into the ice cream?

The rain shower has finished, for now, and it is breezy. I think I'll risk putting the towels out.

Looks like the showers are heading our way!
I got my grory hop done- including sugar and vinegar for plum chutney.
I had a taste of the plum juice which is being frozen in a silicone muffin tray and decided I actually don’t like it Far too sour. Having said that, it’ll no doubt be great mixed with apples and lots of sugar.

My luxury items which jumped into my trolley today? An icecube tray and an indoor/ outdoor thermometer and some wool for a bobble hat for my granddaughter……all for less than 4€ at a bin end shop.

No rain here either it’s now due tomorrow

I spent the afternoon in the garden moved a few pots around and potted up some lettuce plants. That area looks a lot tidier especially after weeding.

GF, I made plum ice cream so no jam needed in it.

The wheelchair and walking frames are now on their way to Malawi via the Wheels To Heal charity where they will be put to good use.

Nicos, I like Delia's Old Dower House chutney which is made with plums, but it does need to mature for about 3 months. Just Google it and you'll find the recipe. I'll have a bucket of strong coffee please if there's one going.

Good morning again.

I woke up at 3.30 am and again at about 6.30 but I managed to drop back to sleep on both occasions. It's very cloudy here. I don't think we had a sunrise to view. It feels quite chilly and Autumnal this morning. Surely it's not time to put the shorts away yet.

I've got a grory hop being delivered between 10am and 11am. I've had an email to say they've no frozen uncooked croissants. I've only two left in the freezer so it looks as if we'll be going on a croissant hunt. Tally Ho! (Visions of men in red jackets on horseback chasing croissants around the countryside and their dogs pinching them all......)

This afternoon I'm taking my brother in law to a medical appointment to have some 24 hour heart monitoring equipment fitted and then taking him back tomorrow to have it removed. Good luck with finding a use for all your plums, Nicos. I love Plum tart tatin.

Time to make coffee.

Morning all.

Just been out with Jack for a good long walk. Stopped on the way back to pick some of our tiddly plums. Really sweet and just dropping off the tree. The boar was clearly there last night and has hoovered loads up. While I was trying to get through all the scrub and brambles to a really good branch, I noticed how many grapes we're going to have. An absolutely bumper year. We can't possibly eat all of them. And this year we have no blackbirds to help us out. Maybe they'll fly in from elsewhere. And the fig tree is as laden as the vine. Plus it looks like we might have some pears to pick. All fruit here even if the veg are a disaster.

Jack sounds like he might be conking out, so I'll make the most of the peace and quiet to get a bit of work out the way.

I must say I don't know how I've never noticed before (or there is more this year) the amount of raspberries that grow wild in the the walks I use. I'm seeing them everywhere now. Only small but the dog won't pass without helping herself
