    • Afternoon all.

Hope Mr GF and brother and Himself are well and truly on the mend.

Check up at the dentist's went well. All good apparently, so a clean and polish and back again in a year. It's a 100 km round trip to see her, so glad not to have to go back for a bit. Mind you, we visited the local wine shop, so made the most of the trip...

Have a great rest of the day, everyone.

      • We decided to go out in the camper instead today…it’s poured it down!!!!
Saw a hare, a prehistoric burial mound had lunch in a cafe and read our books.

The alternative was to stay at home and iron . No contest!

          • Good evening all.
Lots of heavy showers, so not much done other than weeding in between.
.Snoop, the round trip was worth it if you got to visit the wine shop.

Niicos, sounds like a lovely day out and beats the ironing, hands down.
            Have a good night all.7

            • Morning all.

Up a bit late today. Meant to be out early to do some strimming. i'm all dressed up, but it's really hot already and am half tempted to chicken out and leave it for later tonight.

Other than the strimming, on the cards for me are work and getting ready for tomorrow, the best day in the village of the year - Santa Anna. Fantastic communal picnic out in the countryside by a nearby shrine. Followed by climbing the greasy pole, skipping and tug-of-war.

What are you guys all up to? Plenty of fun I hope. Hope Mr GF, BiL and Himself are doing OK.

              Have a great day, everyone.

              • Good morning all. (Predictive text tried to turn morning into motivation)

I'm sure Mr GF has asked me every half hour since 5.30am what times it was. At six am he was singing to me.

It's a grey, drizzly morning and, according to my phone, there is thunder in the vicinity.

Snoop, your communal picnic sounds wonderful. Is it men who do the skipping?

Nicos, reading in the rain, as long as you're not actually cold and wet, must be preferable to ironing. A dirty word to begin the day with.

I just hope the day improves as it goes on.

                • Mornin n’alln’all

Oh my…did we have rain yesterday evening and night!
A timely reminder that we have three leaking joints in the metal gutters.
Got the sealant …. got the tall ladders….got the man…failed joints marked…just need a dry spell now… ( let me know when you are ready Rary….)

Needless to say, all my water storage containers are full again…Yey!

Tomorrow sounds great fun Snoop . Have a fantastic time. What sort of foods are sold- or do you have to take your own ? ( yup…always thinking of my stomach)

More of the same for me for the next few days- both indoors and out.
No real plans for the weekend, but maybe a vide Grenier on Sunday- weather dependant.

Enjoy your day peeps…I spotted the smiles whizzing overhead earlier looking very festive…prpbably preparing for tomorrow Snoop?

That's was good news at the dentist Snoop, enjoy your picnic tomorrow.

Lots of rain here Nicos all my butts are full and the gardens looking well for it. I'm hoping for a fine spell to erect a pea wigwam but we'll see.

                    Enjoy your day.

                    • Yes, GF, most of the skipping is done by big strapping lads, late teens early twenties. Mr Snoop always takes pictures, but I seem not to have any on my computer. Will try and save one from this year's event. Meanwhile, here's the kids tug-of-war from a few years back:

As for the food, everyone takes their own. We don't all sit together, as the villagers have what they call peñas, groups based on family ties and school friendships. So they sit in their peñas usually in the same spot, year after year. We have our own spot too.

Mr Snoop would like shop-bought snacks in packaging we can dispose of there. But that would really be letting the side down. Most peñas make paella and in the evening BBQ pieces of meat and sausage, as they will have lunch and supper there. I don't go that far, but do take 'Tuppers', much to Mr Snoop's disgust, though he never complains about the contents! This year for us: sausage rolls, some pea and leek samosas, a white bean and tuna salad, a freekeh salad, cheese and crackers plus cherries. A bottle of cava and a bottle of white and a lot of water. Two bottles is a bit much, but we will need extra as people will come round and say hello. Plus, we are in the fortunate position of not having to drive on public roads to get to the shrine, we just go across country, using dirt tracks and tractor paths across fields.

Lots of rain overnight so the garden is well watered and the water butts are full.
No plans for the day so we will take it as it comes.

Snoop, that sounds like a great fundsy, hope you enjoy it.

Yes Nicos, and just to let you know, I am always ready, I was going to suggest that you pay my transport costs but on reflection I think if would be easier on me if you provide the food

                              • Good afternoon, have bee quite busy the past couple of days making and putting up some shelves in the garage, clearing cupboards and putting that stuff onto the shelves, OH thinks everything can go into the garage, so as I know what side my bread is buttered, I have moved it, though it will be back in the house before the winter, along with that I have been busy getting work done in the garden and greenhouse, as I only have a week to go before I will be restricted to light duties for tow or three weeks, thow if OH thinks I am going to sit arround the house she is very much mistaken ( please remember what's said on the Vine stays in the Vine) still have some pots to plant up so really need to get a move on with that, I now need to go and get the tea on sk have a good evening and pass on the smiles
