  • Good Morning All. Mild and dry here this morning. I had my cup of tea at eight and read until half nine. Lazy day today apart from a Grory Hop delivered this afternoon. I forgot the washing up liquid in Thursday so that's cost me over £50! Have a good day

    • Good morning all from a miserable and wet Dublin,It started to rain on Thursday night and it's still raining now with no let up,Everywhere is sodden, not Easter weather at all,
I think it's going to be a pottering about day, reading and working on my jigsaw.
Enjoy the sun and the dry weather, those who have it,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Mornin n’alln’all

Very late on parade today…I was up all night with a jippy tummy
Not nice hearing the Dawn chorus before you get to sleep either.

Well…that’s one way to lose weight!
No idea what - certainly not something I ate… Very strange.

I did indeed sample the chocolate mini eggs Snoop. It’s my designated job to pick out and ‘dispose’ of any cracked ones. Someone has to do it I suppose

So, a quiet day ahead for me .Typically we have the sunshine.

We food shop at lunchtime MH…it’s always incredibly quiet.

Right…I best go and quietly do ‘not a lot’ whilst I recover. I do have a book I started…nice soak in the bath…. Looks like my day is sorted too Snoop!

Enjoy your day peeps whatever the weather.

        • Good afternoon.

Nicos, having just read about you handling raw chicken I hope you haven't got campylobacter. I had it probably over ten years ago now. It lasted 9 days. Afterwards I didn't even cook chicken for a couple of years and even now always wear disposable gloves when handling it. I'm not normally paranoid but I never want to get it again.

I've labelled my chutney this morning and have boiled my whole fruit for 2 hours ready to make marmalade. When it cools I'll remove the peel and chop it up. I've also got the remains of the chicken carcass in the slow cooker making stock.

I also need to whip some cream for the top layer of my raspberry trifle.

The sun keeps trying to peep out here and it really is windy. A chilly North easterly.

Flo, £50 washing up liquid? I bet you've got some nice goodies in with it.

          • Sadly greenishfing only strawberries - the rest were essentials from next week's delivery, which in theory should make it less expensive, but rarely does!

              • Morning all, and Happy Easter everybody!

I'm still a member of the Early Risers club it seems, wide awake since silly o'clock.

Glad you're feeling better Nicos. Hope it wan't the chocolate eggs that upset your tum.

                Tea, anyone?

                • Good morning all.

Another insomniac here. I awoke at about 3.30am and have been trying to get back to sleep ever since. I did doze for about an hour between 5am and 6am but then got cramp in my calf. It's gone now but I daren't move that leg into a different position.

I'll pass on the tea, Mothhawk, but thanks for the offer. It's coffee only for me in the mornings, and then I slowly turn into a human being again.

I remember once waking in the early hours on a ferry (Bilbao to Portsmouth) and finding that there was nowhere open to get a coffee until 6am. In the end the lovely receptionist took pity on me and made me a cup herself.

It's still decidedly on the chilly side here, 6°C, and no sign of the sun.

Mr GF is now awake and wondering if it's time to get up. At least I've got someone to chat to now.

Here are some Easter flowers from my garden to share …
I always like to have a vase of yellow flowers for Easter.

                        • Ooops!…I pressed send too early

I actually had a decent sleep last night so I think I missed the offers of a brew…but thanks anyway!

Theres a mahooosive vide grenier not far away today but it keeps raining, then sunny, so we’ll see if we fancy going later.
What’s everyone else up to today?
I actually fancy hanging around to hear the 12.00 Easter bells…they go on for ages, and if the wind is in the right direction , we get to hear the other local village bells which , for some reason, always ring a couple of minutes later!
What is it about listening to church bells?..I find them very uplifting. French ones sound so very different from UK ones, which again sound very different from Italian ones. I wonder if Spanish ones sound very different again? Something to do with the shape and metal perhaps affecting the tone?

So on that thought…have a great day everyone xx

                          • Morning all and a Happy Easter. Lovely flowers, Nicos. Just right for today.

Huge hail storm yesterday evening - dings to the cars' bodywork, but I have seen worse, and I'd whisked my seedlings in so no damage to them, fortunately. Sunny at the moment and my hands feel like they've recovered after two days off the weeding, so I'll be back out at it in a bit. Progress is slower than I would have liked, but at least there is some progress.

                            Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Good morning again.

A much more civilised hour. It's 8°C and cloudy here. I can see a couple of tiny patches of blue, although maybe not enough to make a baby a pair of britches.

I'm going to make my marmalade today. The fiddly work is done including cutting up all the peel. It just needs sugar adding now and boiling to a set. I've ended up with a spare lime. It might end up being an expensive lime as I might just have to treat us to a bottle of gin and some tonics to make the odd gin and tonic.

                              Lovely flowers, Nicos.
