  • Mornin n’alln’all
Bit early I know, but the birds have started singing, so all is good
I’ve not looked outside yet , but it’s forecast a frost.

We have a few things to do in town today so we may well pop into the garden centre..it was closed at lunch time(..typically French) the other day.

Bramble…you said you sorted the press yesterday…is that meaning your ironing?…if so, that’s a lovely phrase

Anyway, let’s start the day with a brew shall we?
Not long until Easter weekend folks!! Friday isn’t a Bank Holiday here. Not that that affects us.
Has anyone got plans for the long weekend ahead?

    Enjoy your day peeps

    • Morning all.

Clear and frosty today. Had to scrape the windscreen before nipping off for a quick grory hop earlier. A road near me is closed for repairs, and the alternate route is snarled up all day with the extra traffic so I went out early to avoid it all.

Nicos, I think Bramble is using presses as meaning cupboards (linen press) and wardrobes. I agree it is a lovely and archaic term but I reckon if I started using it my family would give me strange looks.

      Endless wonder.

Grory hop at some point then calling at the corn merchants for my oatmeal, that's about it for todays plans.

        • Good morning, havent been out yet as it's raining quite heavily OH needs to go out to buy some flowers for the church , no rush for that but I would like to do this quite soon, I don't like hanging about when something needs to be done, hope you can get some gardening done, even if its just planning, it's definitely a lot better than housework
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

          • Good Morning All Sunny here. Waiting for the Grory Hop. It's lovely to see flowers in church at Easter when it's been so empty of them in Lent. Have a good day

            • Morning it’s a wet 7° here but it’s to dry up this afternoon. Nothing on the cards as it’s my rest day today after treatment yesterday.
Hope you are all well. Have a great day. x

              • Good morning.

There's no rain forecast for today, but not a lot of sunshine either. I've got another online shop due between 10 am and 11am. Mr GF will be happy to know that both his favourite hot cross buns and strawberries are coming ..... and I ordered double of both.

My brother in law's physiotherapist rang me yesterday to say that she'd noticed that his rollator needs to be looked at as the brakes aren't working. I've just rung my brother in law who insists it is fine. I think I'll pop round with a spanner later though, just to check. In the days when I used to use a handbag I always had a 10mm and 13mm spanner in there, along with everything but the kitchen sink. Nowadays I only carry a phone and the one thing it can't do is adjust nuts. I 'm sure the day will come when we get our phones implanted into our bodies.

                • One of my sisters sent me a big bag of medjool dates and a jar of her date and apple chutney a few weeks ago. Having tried the chutney I asked her for the recipe. She's just sent it. The only thing that I think I'll need will be some more apples. I might go out and find some later. It is a recipe for the slow cooker, so no stirring required.

                  • Good morning all. After a miserable and very rainy day yesterday it's bright and sunny today.
Lots of small errands to do this morning.
Grandsughter coming for lunch and thrn some gardening this afternoon.

MH, presses, as in wardrobes and linen closet.

                    Have a goodday all.

                        • N icos, it's astrange thing but Irish people don't tend to use the word ,linen closet...it's presses.

                          • I don’t use the term ‘linen closet ‘ either!
Airing cupboard if it contained the hot water cylinder, anything else upstairs was just a wardrobe or cupboard ….not that we stored cups in them!

Funny how things change. Nowadays we have a pressurised hot water tank which gives off no heat and is located in the cellar next to the boiler….and bedding is zipped into plastic bags tucked under the beds!
I do like the term ‘presses’ though…funny how I’d not heard of that seeing as one side of my family is a very high percentage Irish …, Dublin infact!

                            • Mornin n’alln’all

Not a Bank Holiday today so we’ll be finishing off the grory hop we started yesterday…plus a few other things we need to do in town.
Looks like we’re in for a bit of a sploshy weekend on and off so I’m hoping to nip out between showers and finish off a few jobs.

So tell me please….when am I allowed to eat my mini eggs? Should I just do a quick sample to check they are still fresh?
Easter is a tad different here.
As I mentioned, today isn’t a Bank Holiday.
The church bells stop ringing yesterday evening and then fly to Rome to visit the Pope. They then return on Easter Sunday ( when the church bells start ringing. again) but on their way back they collect chocolate eggs for the children.
We get used to the bells ringing daily at 7am, midday and 7pm and for weddings and funerals, so it does feel strangely quiet over the next couple of days.
As I mentioned, it’s the bells which give the children the chocolate, not the Easter Bunny ( but you see both chocolate bunnies …and bells!!!!… alongside eggs in the shops.

Are there any Easter traditions in your areas peeps?I just thought it interesting to share as the lack of bells ringing and seeing the chocolate bells in the shops always feels very French.

Not sure what other plans we have. There is a huge vide Grenier held every year on Easter Sunday, but if it rains the stall holders won’t turn up…so we’ll see.
Whatever you get up to, enjoy your weekend, and, remember to share that lovely smile you have x
