  • Good evening all.
Lots of showers this afternoon but got some seedlings potted on in the greenhouse.
Grandson number two came in this evening so that put an end to the work.
I wear my old, well worn clothes in the garden but always feel like explaining if I have to answer the door.

Lottie, thats a very good idea for hiding things in a sewing box, nobody will ever go near it.

Snoop, your seeds w8ll turn up when your no longer looking for them.
    Have a good evening.

    • Mornin n’alln’all

      No rain!…yes!!
      More gardening for me today.
It really is turning into a combination Autumn/ Spring clean up! All that bad weather since October put us further behind than I realised. But it’s starting to come together- so that’s the main thing

Good to hear your beds are also coming on Snoop…it’s just a matter of heads down and getting stuck in ( weather permitting) isn’t it?

Second brew of the day coming up….anyone care to join me?

      Enjoy your day peeps

      • Morning all.

Looks like today's weather will be a repeat of yesterday. Dry this morning, but a storm and downpour this afternoon. Chilly out so will get wrapped up and shoot out to get a bit more weeding done. Plus some more seed sowing. We're back into frost territory for the next few days, so mustn't be in a hurry to do direct sowing.

Might make the most of the wet afternoon to do a bit of paid work. Could do with making some sweet stuff for Easter gifts, but can't do everything!

Hope the car starts today, GF.

        Have a great day, everyone.

        • Good Morning All Was woken at 6 by a text message from eldest GG (she's been on nights) asking if I had any baking in the freezer! She and her friends are having a meal together tonight before one of them goes back to Australia and she volunteered to provide something sweet, so I have a lemon drizzle to make this morning. Made me smile when she said in the text "You're up early"

            • Snoop…I know you enjoy baking, but when I make these for gifts they go down incredibly well, especially with a different combination of dried fruit, nuts, chilli , ginger, coconut flakes ,sweets, and different chocolate colours..
              I thought I’d invented them…but clearly not!

They look like this…. But I just splodge melted chocolate bars into small , irregular discs and press on the topping…then pop in the fridge/ freezer until set.
Takes moments and always go down well. I’ve even crumbled biscuits onto the top.

                • Those look really good. The chocolate I have is really good but not suitable for melting, so not I'll save that for future reference. Thanks.

                  • Good morning all.

It's grey and chilly here today and the forecast is for more of the same.

My online shop has just appeared, a bit early, and nothing is missing. No weird and wonderful substitutions. I added lemons, limes, easy peelers and sugar to the list last last night as I decided I'm going to make some mixed fruit marmalade later in the week. I usually use oranges, grapefruit and lemons but fancy a change. I'll just do a half recipe, 5 jars, until I decide how much I like it. Maybe my body is telling me it wants some vitamin C as there was also a tin of mandarins and an orange jelly on the list. Another punnet of the really nice strawberries sneaked in too..... and cream to go with them. I'm feeling quite happy about the healthy snacks Mr GF has enjoyed lately. Instead of cake he's been getting olives and baby tomatoes or slices of apple and walnuts or celery and cheese.

I'll go and attempt to start the car shortly and take it for a quick trip down the M1 if it starts.

Nicos, I couldn't resist looking at your link. I hurriedly left before I'd convinced myself I needed to make some, but not before the naughty part of my brain had thought, "Oh, I could make those as a traybake, break them up when set and then I wouldn't be counting how many I'd eaten".

                        • I'm happy to say that the car started as normal this morning. My supermarket delivery arrived early, so after I'd organised Mr GF I decided to take the car for a good run to put some more charge into the battery. I just set off in the general direction of Emley Moor mast, through lots of lovely little villages. I eventually ended up very close to the mast, the last time I was that close was back in the 60s when the old mast collapsed in very cold, icy weather.

I fortunately have a good sense of direction, so then came back home in a big circle without turning the satnav on. I know that somewhere in that area is/was a nice ice cream dairy. Next time we get a nice sunny day I might go and try to find it. Unfortunately I can't remember it's name or which village it is in. Maybe Google can help me.

                          • Good evening, dry but cool day today, the usual Tuesday shopping this morning , but missed out our usual visit to our friend as she was hoping to be visiting the doctors, have been in contact with her once we came back home, she didnt see or speak to a doctor, but she now has an appointment to see a physiotherapist, not what I would recommend for a dropped shoulder and breathlessness, however I am not a doctor, you would think things would get better as the years progress.
A change of subject. GF you mentioned charging up a battery, I was just thinking today of how we used to top up batteries with distilled water , a thing I havent done for a good number of years now, how some things change for the better.
As I have posted else where, I have planted some tomatoes in their bed today, dont know how they will do but as I always say " you never know till you try" I am also considering planting out either a cucumber cor a courgette in the poly tunnel, I sowed some trombo seed recently but dont think they are going to germinate so need to think on what is the best alternative, would be grateful for any thoughts on this, right off to inspect the inside of the eyelids for five minutes so please no noise or dropping of plates etc. but do keep smiling 🙂🙂🙂

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                              • Good evening all, what a busy day, misunderstsnding about picking up our grsndson from school.
He was at Easter camp and a fair bit away from where we normally collect him from.
So his mother went to get him, but we had already got there before her.
SO his mother came to ours, and our daughter came to ours to do the Easter egg hunt.
My house was like a railway station with all the coming and going.
Now sitting down with a cup of tea and thinking I might have an early night.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
