  • Good morning from a bright and breezy Dublin.
14 degs and no rain forecast so I am off out to have a walk in the park.
Hoping to spend the afternoon in the garden.
Have a good all and shop safely to all who have to.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

On the lotty as I type. Sunny spells and gusty. Our beans are taking a battering too Bren, it's also felled three sunflowers despite them being staked for support.

Still very windy here-and warm. Ideal clothes drying day

Off to the nearest town for us today.... got to buy powdered marble and choose a natural pigment from a specialist shop so we can get the final layer on our newly insulated walls. Both need to be there -cos we don't want the wrong colour chosen do we rary?
Just to let you know I went to BandM by myself the other day to get a pot of paint, with no instructions on colour whatsoever, the colour I picked was buttermilk or cream or something similar and OH is quite pleased with my choice I looked at various different colours and pictured in my mind how it would look, as there were several different colours which would have done I decided to go for the one that was cheapest

        • Good afternoon was out shopping with OH this morning and she was OK with it, we came back home with a full car as she wants to build up her stock again, I was surprised with the number of people who don't wear their masks properly and irispective of age they should know better, having worked where wearing dust or gas masks was part of every day life I don't have a problem with them I know some folk have problems with them but others are just selfish, that's my rant finished
Weather wise it was dry while we were out and now we are back home there is strong winds and now raining so don't know what I will do this afternoon if I was a bit older I would possibly have an afternoon nap, but think I will just sit and inspect the inside of my eyelids enjoy the day and keep safe

Were my bean frame has to be is its fairly exposed making it the windiest part of the garden but I've never had this much problem with them before, its very odd.

Rains just stopped so I've been out gathering nasturtium seeds. to pickle. its just started raining again as I'm typing.

            • Well, that was a mammoth event-and still didn't buy everything on my list

You should have seen us at the specialist shop ( they basically sell everything diy/insulation which is made from natural products) We took an almost empty pot of tint and asked for a few more pots. "oh -that's very old, I don't think it's produced any more"
              was our reaction
Then she furtled around in a dusty corner and came out grinning....
How many do you need?.......4 pots!
              Perfect!

Oh...you can have them at half price then.... yipppeee!

Rary-that buttermilk episode of yours reminded me of when we decided to paint the rendering on our last house in the UK.
most of our neighbour's had chosen white but we fancied a warmer, pale cream.
We had about 12 different samples painted in patches and looked at them over a period of a few weeks and finally chose the one we'd liked from the beginning. When we went to buy the paint I casually said that we'd been looking for something slightly unusual...I asked if the colour actually had a name not just a trade code. Yup ..... magnolia!!! Ha ha ha.... had to larf... That was the time when everyone painted everything magnolia indoors

Today I actually found everyone in the supermarkets were wearing their masks properly. Big fines here if you don't. It was a bit of a relief tbh compared to when it was voluntary.

Nice to be home and unpacked though Time for a brew eh?

              • I was having a real problem with my husband and masks (and he really is at an age where he should know better) until I pointed out that when he wears one nobody can see that underneath he looks like an unshaven scruff (Jeremy Corbyn/Alan Sugar lookalike) with his overgrown white stubble. He is now avoiding the razor even more but at least he is happy to wear a mask.

                  She happily wears one now

                  Whatever it takes eh?

Bet your OH looks yummy with his trendy designet stubble?

No, he does not look yummy but I can live with it. His stubble is not designer just lazy!!! I am just happy he is happy to wear a mask eventually. Just yesterday I was trying to convince a geriatric idiot in Sainsbury's that he looked far better in a mask ( preferably full face). Even in my teens I attracted old men and village idiots........nothing has changed.)

                    • Good morning everybody. Fresh and cool here today.

My autumn raspberries are starting to develop a nice crop of fruit and I shall have to cut them all down in 2 weeks so that the new fence can be built.
Oh well, there's always next year.

Bright and cool here too. Pity about your rasps Mothhawk. Had to peg the courgette plants down with debris net yesterday to prevent wind damage, lucky we noticed they were catching it. Only forecast 10mph today so they can be uncovered again.

                        Have a good day

A dull start to our day but the wind has gone.
Potting up some strawberry runners this morning.
Also starting to save my flower seeds for next year.
