  • My poor grandad, i am so angry

Just had my grandad on the phone in tears, last night some broke into his garage, pushed his car into the farmers field and set fire to it...! its just another thing to add to a long list of problems he suffers..! he lives at the end of a row of houses, the road changes to a small lane to the farmers field, when i was a kid there used to be lots of people had garages plots rented from the council, now theres just his garage left and behind his allotment, theres only one allotment. the kids go every night drinking then, riping his veg up, he has a old horse drawn blackpool tram on his allotment, that he uses for storage, the tram society were going to restore, until the local drunken kids smashed it to bits,

i wish he would come and live with us

How absolutely awful louise. It must be very difficult for your Grandad if he's lived there a long time. Would he think about going to live with you? It'd be difficult to leave 'the past' behind but you have to live in the present and it sounds like a not very nice place to live anymore.

He`s lived in that house about 40+ years, believe it or not micheal parkinson was born in his house ! my grandad bought it years ago from the council its a lovely house, its not on some massive crime ridden estate, its a row of 5 council semi, all but 1 bought, my grandads next door neighbour, a few years ago his elderly neighbour died, and the council house become vacant, did they give it to a nice family as its a lovely big house with massive gardens, no they gave it to a women thats suppose to have learning difficulties, she has god knows how many kids from babies to teenagers, her partner died of a heroin overdose and she set fire to her last council house as she was depressed. her kids run riot, she allows every waif and stray in off the street, and now my grandad is living in misery ! i orignally come from barnsley where my grandparents live, but as my grandma is very poorly and house bound my grandad wont up root her now to lincolnshire.

its so bad this flaming women, now has a closure order on her house, that only her and her feral kids can be in the house, but her older kids attract all the rif raf, so they gather around my grandads garage and lottie drinking and causing damage.

l love my grandparents, if it wasnt for many school hols in his lottie, i would have never been a veg grower ! when i was a kid he always used to say one day i will build you a bungalow in my allotment ! when we bought this place, we have some garages, that the previous owner built, with the intention of making into a bungalow but couldnt get planning, other people have built in their gardens since, so i think we could have a good chance, i want my grandparents to live in it, but he says hes too old to move. i could cry x

Why do some(not all) kids think they can do these evil things to elderly people and get away with it, the law is a joke , it protects the very people that cause the trouble in the first place, and if you go and confront them, your more than likely to get a mouth full of disgusting language or something much worse.

Give your Granddad a BIG hug from me,xx

I'm so sorry for you Louise - and your grandparents. I don't understand any of it. 60 years of a welfare state and free education and we get scuts (pigeons bred to the lowest). I don't know what the answer is but hope things get better for you all soon.

Bless his heart. I am at a total loss at mindless vandalism what truely is the point of it?
I hope nothing else happens to him, it is lovely he has you to care about him though.

ah hun this sounds horrible - my heart goes out to you and the grandfolks. is there no local support out there for them. i work on a very rough council estate and i know that the local government are desperately trying to sort out problems like you've described using police liason officers, extra cctv, community asbo's and neibourhood watch schemes. worth a try but might be worth contacting the council. i hope they move the horrible neighbour

I work for the Police, and have done for 12 years, and i have to say i`ve seen some awful stuff over the years, and you do become very hardend, but whether it was my grandad or somebody elses grandparents crimes against the elderly still really upset me.

he gets no help for him, it drives me nuts, me been so far away now, they have the order re visitors to the house next door, but this justs makes the vistors hang around his garage and lottie causing damage, my hubby put him a CCTV camera up on his house, but it doesnt reach as far as his garage and lottie. i worry my grandad is a very proud man, has a BEM for his services to the country ( well he did until someone broke in his house and stole it ) i worry he will confront them, like many alot younger men have and come off worse

cant GYO forum as a whole write to him and tell him he would be better off living here ?

                          Louise,

This is just heartbreaking. Can the police do anything at all, now that an act of vandalism has taken place and valuable property has been damaged?

Thankyou for all your replies, i need to convince him, he needs to live with us, we live in a beautiful peaceful village thankfully and although i have a long drive to work its worth it to live here. i want my grandad to have peace and quiet like we have now he`s 90 , when my hubby got home i had to tell him as i was so mad, he exploded, he has decided to go and stay with them, his job means he can, but i worry my law abiding hard working hubby will be drawn into doing something stupid out of anger. so i said no, but this weekend my hubby is going to put cameras up in his lottie and garage, what has this country come to, good grief
