Default Can't open Le parfait jar!

Had a go preserving some of my chilis in a Le Parfait jar. Jar's been through a waterbath so there is a vacuum in the jar.... the vacuum is so strong that I can't get the lid off! Any hints anyone?

Either pierce a hole in the lid - Stab a sharp pointed knife into it!! OR
Boil some water, pour it into a cereal, or similar bowl. Invert the jar so that the lid (ONLY) is in the water. Leave for a few seconds. Then try opening the jar. Do not leave in the water too long or it will heat the glass and defeat the object.
Heat expands the lid and it should be easier to get off. Hope that helps. Sanjo

Thanks Sanjo - it's a glass lid though. TS I will give it a go.

I knock the lid hard side on, on a strong surface to break the seal - same principle as TS

I have had the same problem. Both times I have resorted to a thin edged screwdriver carefully prising the lid away from the rubber seal. I am going to try Sanjo's inverted hot water method though.
