Are all aphids the same?

Hi,
I have got a bout of black aphids on my broad beans. I was just wondering, a daft question, are all aphids the same?
Can you control them the same either the organic or spray way?

There are thousands of different kinds of aphid, each with their own favourite plants. They all succumb to being squished between finger and thumb, though.

Yep, thems are cabbage aphids.

Yes, if you leave them they can take over. They made a right mess of my PSB last autumn and winter and were still sucking away in April.

Am I correct in thinking that some aphids are born pregnant?

I also seem to recall something about it taking several generations of wingless aphids till they pop out with wings - it this correct?

There's also a strange little niggling about live births aswell.
