Flakes are small here Nicos - more suited to me teeny little rosebud mouth
Just seen the first person out on the road - a young lad dragging a snow laden sledge attached to his left ankle - he didn't stay upright for long
Just had this from our local community group so thought I'd share it!
"Matthew from the Village Garage has asked me to let you know that when snow conditions prevail garages frequently have to repair windscreen wiper motors. The problem arises when people turn on the wipers before clearing the snow from the windscreen. Failure to do that, particularly if the snow has been left to settle for a period, puts too much load on the wiper blade motor causing it to burn out."
I had a phone call from a teacher this morning ~ school is closed. That's the first time EVER someone has let me know. It saved me an hour's walk, I'm very grateful.
Took dog for her first ever walk in snow. It was up to her chest (she's only shin-height) but she loved it, did roley-polies all along the beach
The blackbirds have jacket potato & raisins for their brekky, and the guinea pigs have had a carpet put over their hutch for snugness.
We're having a movie-day, and I'm hopefully going to finish my avocet painting this afternoon.
Snow 5-6 inches deep here and still falling. Had to go into work ... Head would not close school. Then at 10.00 am he came around to tell us all that school would be closing at 11.30. Got home 15 minutes ago (at 1.15)- an 18 mile journey all on good roads - A51, A34. Arrrgghhhhh! Anyway I am home now - OH is not. Tried ringing his mobile - not switched on. The man is an idiot! Out in a rear wheel drive car when he has NO NEED to be.
Son's school open for an hour and a half this morning. I was due an afternoon's supply this afternoon, at my school so I rang at 11:30 to see what was going on and was told I was still needed. When I pointed out I'd have to dig the car it was retracted. Subsequently had text to say children going at 2. So I would have been in for an hour! Oh and don't drive down school lane but it was going to be ok for me to!

Our Dawg has just had a hoolie round the garden in the snow. I'm sure he thinks he's a greyhound.
My Horsey chores have been done, and I've been given the day off! Not complaining, but we're due snow tonight, so I might not be able to get there tomorrow - I'd have been better off doing today, and letting those nearer, do tomorrow. Never mind, it means I've got a day with the pencils.
Piccie's looking good TS - fun innit!?
All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment Freelance shrub butcher and weed removal operative.
It started snowing about 8pm last night where i am in the midlands and its sill coming down heavy enough. So far the cheap polytunnel is standing up to it very well, its even built up enough to start falling off on its own.
i wonder if im going to have a lake in the garden again when it all melts.
It's just stopped snowing here at last! We have at least 6 inches, possibly more - very pretty to look at but I'm very glad I don't have to go to work anymore. Retirement is great at times like this! And I haven't seen more than 3 cars down on the main road all morning. Usually they are whizzing up and down.
I've shovelled the snow from my path and steps and have been trying to feed the birds all morning, but as soon as I've put any food down the snow has covered it straight away. Hopefully they can get some now the snow has eased off
Take care all you peeps who have to travel about in it - keep safe.
