For drainage holes I just heat something - a knife /skewer and it pushes through fine and give a twist. Leaves a hole without splitting the bucket.

Potty used to use a heated copper pipe.

I put the holes an inch or so up the sides, not in the bottom so that they can hold a reservoir of water and don't need to be put on supports to drain.
      Does that make sense????

Too late for this year I suspect????
But definitely worth investigating for next year.
I’ve got a covered heated propagator - any recommendations for the seed?

Out of stock for this year but the info is worth a read.

Thats what i've done to my buckets, plus you can poke a strip of wicking fabric into the holes and stand the bucket on a tray and you have a mini self watering system handy when you go away for a few days.
