  • what bird is this?

i always feed the birds for the bird table but we have seen a cat sitting on it lately so i dumped a load of normal bird seed with added sunflower seeds and peanuts!
i was watching them out of the window and saw this stunning bird ive never seen anything like it

You don't see them very often. I see the occasional one flying through but not often on the ground. The blue bar on their wings and their pinky-buff colour is most attractive - but they have an awful squawk!

Blasted noisy things! A real PITA - bit like their cousin the Magpie.

Loads round here, VC. Can't walk the dog in peace at my Folks' place - noisy things screeching and chattering away all the time.

More magpies than jays hereabouts! They're all noisy devils!

I get jays on the ground under the bird feeder. But they are very shy birds and will fly off at the slightest thing. They can be noisy but I prefer them to the Magpies.

They are just winter visitors, so enjoy them while you can

Got quite a few up here too. Had a collared bird of prey in our garden today. Looked like somebody's eagle.

Lucky thing. Mind I do get greater and green woodpeckers and a tawny owl, but a Jay, I'd love a Jay every now and then. I must plant an oak tree..
