    .

The bird feeders aren't being used much now, so they're temporarily down on the ground, among some garden debris, due to ongoing garden work.

These pictures were taken in a hurry, but a little visitor appears to have been caught in the act of stealing.

A stoat ? Pine Marten ? Or is it a squirrel with a white shirt on ?
Reminds me of those CCTV photos you sometimes see in the local paper of "This is the evil mugger who..."
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

      Tis a stoat / weasel.
Definitely not a pine marten unless your bird feeder is absolutely huge.

I always knew stoats were bigger , but to be honest would never have been able to tell- at a glance the difference between a stoat and a weasel

            Anyway- I found this....

            Stoat Or Weasel?

            which only helps a little

            and this....

( stoat has a black tipped tail- and often go white in winter.. ( ermine))

Do you think it was a weasel FB???

So the question is, is it a mouse like this?

                  or a mouse like this?

                  or a stoat/ weasel?

                  FB what's the answer?

You also get Yellow Necked mouse in that part of the country and they are one of the UK biggest mouse. I think the seeing the tail would give us the answer straight away.

The feeder is approximately eight inches (20cm) diameter and six inches (15cm) in height.
Can you guess who the thief was?

Thought it was a bit small for a weasel! The photo is just about life size on the screen!
I never knew a wood mouse was the same thing as a field mouse either.
