The big butterfly count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment. It was launched in 2010 and has rapidly become the world's biggest survey of butterflies. Over 36,000 people took part in 2016, counting almost 400,000 individual butterflies and day-flying moths across the UK (see the 2016 results). big butterfly count 2017 took place from Friday 14 July to Sunday 6 August but sightings can be submitted until the end of August.

Could you not see the map on the link - it shows Germany,Croatia,Belguim,France,Spain,Italy,Denmark Portugal, thats as many as i can remember- but there were more, so it was just a suggestion to submit the video, and im sure the BB Count will either accept or advise to register with the right Butterfly count - just a thought for Scary thats all

Had another new visitor today

Recognised it as a Ladybird larvae- but not sure which one as i'd never seen this one in my garden before , a search discovered it was this little garden helper

The cool and rainy weather also favours the larvae of the fungus-eating ladybird Illeis galbula. Recent weather conditions favour the growth of fungi that they (adults and larvae) feed on, including sooty mould and powdery mildew.

I posted on my blog that i had, had problems on my Lupins with P Mildew that then had spread to my Calendulas I had applied an Insect friendly homemade solution that sorted them out - so this little sweetie is now living on and hopefully continuing to organically sort out my Calendula's- A real welcome sight I'll say

You're welcome Scary With that amount of beauties visiting and the Butterfly numbers declining its really a fantastic video capture- not one to be missed on record wherever you are- its SENsational!!! Really interested to know what species they were?

^^^Aww but they are gorgeous! Last time I was in London I went to Greenwich Park just to see them...saw absolutely none!

You should try the Tree Walk at Kew Gardens. There are thousands there and they massacre the sweet chestnut trees there. I hope for your sake they don't go north of Hadrian's Wall!

If you don't like spiders,look away now! This one was hanging on my kitchen door & looked a bit scary,so I put it in a pint glass & gooogled it,to check it wasn't from someone's tank or a zoo but it's ok it's a false widow I think. It's not as friendly looking as other spiders,I couldn't touch it I just tipped the glass to let it out.

There appears to be quite a lot of these around at the moment! It wasn't a false widow but my OH picked a huge one up from the bedroom floor to put it outside and it bit him...now he uses a tissue, I use JJ's method!
Don't remember them being as big years ago?
