The swallows have flown and now we have a garden warblers nest in top of a double fold shutter for the front door.

Fabulous picture, Verinda. I've not seen one like that before so I looked it up. I think it's a Clouded Border - lomaspilis marginataOriginally posted by Verinda View PostI spied this beautiful moth on the wall of our house today.

I thought that at first, SP, but his colours are so clear I plumped for the clouded border....but in fact you're right and I'm wrong. I was looking at common carpets. My old butterfly and moth book doesn't have that one in it. Well foundOriginally posted by Small pumpkin View PostHe is literally beautiful verinda........ I'm 95% sure he's a beautiful carpet

I'm so appreciative to SP and Mothhawk and this forum, it's brilliant to be able to post a picture, not have a clue what sort of moth it is and within a short time know that my moth is called a beautiful carpet
I wonder who came up with that fabulous name????

Here's a little parasitic wasp that landed on the only 4 chilli plants I have left following my invasion of whitefly n aphid!
You should have seen the little Beggers run!
But he got em!

Today I heard a lot of peeping just above my head, I looked up and saw all these fluffy pompoms whizzing about and a hysterical parent rushing after them, I saw the parent had a gold crest! So happy to have a huge family of goldcrest wrens on our plot. Not a great pic, it doesn't show how minute this baby really is.
