  • This bee just now,that Daphne does smell really nice,I’d visit there. I was reading the other day that bees can make flowers flower early by piercing a hole in the leaf,something to look out for,it’s nice seeing an early flower & it might be because of a bee

    • Saw a flock of small birds yesterday in the large sycamore at the bottom of the garden. Thought it would be long tailed tits as they often hang out in numbers but when I checked through the binocs it was a flock of goldfinches. Or a ‘charm’ as they are called. Had been hoping to attract them to the garden more regularly with the Niger seeds. Also been seeing a pair of bullfinches on the feeder in the last week. They are lovely looking birds.

        • We had a couple flirting together in our hazel tree this morning! I thought it was a goldfinch chasing off a sparrow until I checked up on the female colouring

            I have to almost fight this little fellow to use the garden. Completely fearless.
            I live in a part of the UK with very mild winters. Please take this into account before thinking "if he is sowing those now...."

                              • What a pretty bird!...lovely- I’m not aware of having seen one before( unless I thought it was another type of sparrow!)
