It's difficult, isn't it? If Hedgie notices the change in the environment, it might make him/her nervous. Maybe after any hoglets have flown the nest, so to speak? Anyway, lovely to see. Thanks.

I am over the moon! I was right, I have just managed to see hedgie leaving his house! I was covering up some plants and could hear some muffled sounds, so I finished fleecing and stood in the kitchen with all lights off and waited. At 18.45hrs I caught a glimpse of something in between the blueberry pots, in front of the nest. A moment later hedgie was in his/her feeding station!
I am ridiculously excited...looks like the hop gets a reprieve.
Hedgie comes first! 🦔Last edited by Peanut; 26-03-2025, 06:00 PM.Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Nicos Snoop Puss Thanks both! I was so glad he came out whilst it was still just light enough to grab some, albeit not the clearest, pics! I saw him feeding again after 19.00hrs and about midnight. He's definitely a hungry hedgie after his winter snooze, unless there is more than one...

I used to have one but it developed a fault so I returned it and I haven't decided if I want to get another as the last one mostly caught muntjacs (fence now deer proofed) and way too many cats which really p**'d me off!

I have to say, I am very disappointed with Hedgie's personel hygiene. Not only does he poo inside his feeding station, but he has also poo'd in his water bowl! Dirty Hedgie! 🦔🦔Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
