We haven't had this for a number of years but a chaffinch has decided to keep pecking the window.
I believe its territorial/ seeing off a rival behaviour.
We had a ‘wild’ peacock choose to come and live in our garden for over a year…and he used to do the same with his reflection in my car!
Unfortunately ‘Albert’ would also jump up and kick box it too leaving scratches, so I had to leave the car muddy so he couldn’t see us own reflection in it
So…the motto of this story, is that if you want your chaffinch to stop CG, then maybe you have a good excuse not to keep your windows so clean ?
I guess though that it’s quite sweet seeing yours ‘tapping’ at the window…daft thing

I had this with a male chaffinch too. He would sit on the wing mirror throughout the day and periodically peck at/attack the window, this also went on for a couple of years.

Not exactly wildlife, but this is where my prickly friend Hedgie has made his/her home. Its an old home kitchen compost bucket that I was using to collect rainwater, which fell over and I forgot about.
Last year around mid December I was cutting back the golden hop, which is that vine like thing its hidden in and was about to lift up the bucket when I noticed it was full of leaves etc
I hoped it was Hedgie but didn't want to get my hopes up but just in case, I positioned a few of my blueberry pots around the front to block some of the wind and give it a bit of protection.
And now I think its pretty clear that this is indeed where my prickly pal has decided to call home!
Not the best pics I'm afraid

Have you decided what you'll do with the golden hop? Leave it be?
I will certainly leave it be for the foreseeable. I really wanted it out this year. I guess I could try digging it out one evening once Hedgie has left for his nightly adventures, its right at the back of the house so with outside lights I'll be able to see what I am doing, then I would put his house back as it is.
That's just me pondering at the moment...
