  • Wow Penellype - I see you've not stopped since I was last on.

You're like a machine, how do you manage it ?
.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

    • Tomorrow and Tuesday will be the first time I have had 2 full days off work in over a month, so I intend to enjoy every minute!

Finish winter weeding on plot- done
      Finish mulching soft fruit- done
Listen to my library book while working, as it expires on Friday- done
Dig celery/bean trench and fill with contents of compost bin
      Sow early carrots under fleece
Lots of seedsowing in greenhouse. Start hardening off seedlings which have sprouted.
If time, build a second compost bin, fix bench, weed paving round greenhouse, finish off a couple of new paths, and build deep, organic matter rich bed for cucurbits.- started, but getting 4th side fixed on will be a 2 person job...
      Weed garden at home.
      Stake summer raspberries
Then a long hot soak in the bath ;-)

Not really! I'm lucky that my job simply requires me to monitor an inbox and answer any emails. That means that most days I can usually plan my time as I like, providing that I check the computer every couple of hours or so. If I have a difficult email to answer I often go in the garden to think about it while I do something useful.

As far as having the energy is concerned, the idea is to set things up so that it virtually looks after itself - this is where I am at home (almost) which is why I have the time and energy left to do the allotment. I am already going down there, looking around and thinking what can I do today, rather than what must I get done right now, although that could well change when things really start growing!

                  • This weekend I am going to...

                    put up the bean supports
fill some containers with compost etc. and pop some peas in
dance around the garden when earth wind and fire comes up on the play list
check everything growing undercover and water/weed if necessary
Sweet talk the seedlings, apologising for the singing along (see 3!)
Repot last years mint - Bowles green, spearmint and chocolate
sit and have a cup of tea while gazing into the pond to see if the newts are back
Sow basils- sweet green- red ruffles, greek
                    Pot on peppers and toms
Go crazy with the fleece as the weather report says it will drop to 1-2 degrees c at night until next weekend- probably while repeating no. 3
Strim the remaining patch of grass I haven't turned into veg and flower beds (yet!)

2 days should get it done, I know 2 hours could get it done but then I would have to hoover the house and go shopping and... NO, just no...

                    • Today my goals were to:
                      - go to Wilko and buy three new arches, tall bamboo sticks, a thermometer, some new drill bits and bolts for fixing the greenhouse.
                      - take the van to a tyre place and get the slow puncture sorted
                      - collect a 16 foot trampoline for eventually building a poly tunnel with it
                      - take the dog for a walk
                      - have a nap, since I was out on the razz last night lol

I've managed it all apart from the nap
