No show courgettes and cucumbers

I am miffed as I sowed courgettes and cucumbers, different varieties and packets on 17th April and still no show from any of them. For the life of me I don't know why as they have been at the correct temp for germination in seed sowing john innes compost.

Should I give up ?

I wouldn't give up yet,as none have shown it sounds like it's too soon for all of them,unless they've all rotted from overwatering or they need extra water? My courgettes took longer than I thought they would,it does make you think something's gone wrong but it's rare for something to go wrong with more than one variety,usually it's just the odd packet of seeds. I cover the pots with a bit of cling film which helps keep the environment nice

Some of ours have germinated, some haven't.
They've been inside a blowaway.
Digging around in the compost they are still in there and look swollen so we've brought then indoors where it's warmer in the evenings...I'll give them another week...

I planted them in those small, biodegradable papery pots which dried out very quickly so has been hard to keep stable. Never use them again as they are useless.

Those pots are awful. Tried them once - never again.
I've had iffy germination of squash and bean seeds this year. I'd overwatered some and the seeds rotted, even though the surface of the compost felt dry
Others didn't seem to have been affected by water, heat, compost, anything. In other words, they came out of the compost looking exactly the same as when I'd taken them from the packet and sowed them. I'm "blaming" that on old or badly stored seeds! I refuse to accept that I'm to blame for everything that doesn't grow properly

However, I'm about to start some more seeds - never say Dai, as we say in Sunshiny South Wales!

My squash and courgette seed germination has been iffy this year. Resowed a load yesterday.

Have you tipped one out to see what the seed's doing Marb? I got suspicious about some Blue Lake beans that hadn't come up yesterday, so I tipped out one pot and the seeds had rotted. No idea why but there you go - I just put new seeds in all the pots, same compost and everything just pushed new seeds in. Didn't add more water though.

My tray of leftover bean seeds not only rotted but grew maggots Found them yesterday when I had a rummage So be careful if reusing the compost.
The good news is - some of them germinated before the rest rotted!

I have struggled with onions, Coriander, Prairie fire chillies this year not had a single one up.. its so bad that I am having to go and buy some plants to replace what im missing, need some onion sets too

Its dodgy seeds though, no fault of mine!! and im sticking to it. LOL

Quite a few of my squash didn't germinate for what ever reason. I usually have a root round in the compost if I think they are taking too long and give them a very gentle squeeze. If they are still hard I plant them again (and apologise). Some are soft, some blow bubbles and some squirt out....... Well you probably don't want to know the details of that !

My Giant marrows didnt fire either which killed me as they are quite pricey but im putting that down to temperature, left them in the conservatory and it reached 45c so think they got baked won't make that mistake again!

I sowed 12 courgette seeds and 11 germinated very quickly. Then I discovered Patio Star, which sounds much better, seeing as I have very limited growing space. So I ordered 6 seeds from MoreVeg and gave away all my courgette plants. ONE measly seed has germinated, 5 no shows. Wonderful *sigh* Finding it hard to get back in to the swing of this growing malarkey.

Well my courgettes and cucumbers were coming on nicely on the windowsill then this morning they had gone! This is my second sowing of both so I wasn't best pleased.

But, I just noticed a little slimy trail - a tiny slug has been hiding under the pots! But not any more it's not :-)

I'd sown 10 courgettes and only ended up with 3 seedlings have re-sown them and now I'm finally happy to have 6 plants. All were sown using mulit compost into small pots then left in the Heated prop.
