I generally prefer tomatoes a few days before they're fully ripe - Sungold are at their best when they are that yellowy orange IMO, once they get to their final deeper orange they're oversweet and a bit mushy.

Mine are rounder than that and look just like the ones in SusieG's photo on page 2 of this thread.

Just in case it's relevant, I bought mine from Premier Seeds Direct on ebay.

Not only are they the wrong shape they aren't the right colour either!
Black cherry is more a mix of mahogany/purple with a greenish tinge... I'm rubbish at describing anything!

not much taste and are mushy.and the greenish tinge stays hard.

Ms-T, my Black Cherry are a sort of chocolatey brown colour and the size of a cherry tom, unlike the ones in your photo ............... think they must've got their seeds mixed up .....!

When did you buy them? I had a debate with Premier Seeds a couple of years ago when I bought some Brown Berry seeds from them and got ones that look just like the ones you've got. I assumed that either they'd mixed them up or crossed them with something else. Anyway, I don't buy from Premier Seeds any more.

I still grow them because I find they make a nice sauce but they're not very nice as salad tomatoes.

This is what they sent me:

This is what I was expecting:

And this is a Black Cherry

Good luck with getting a reply, the one they sent me was "we've had no complaints from any of our other customers".
