Chillis!

sorry if there's already a thread covering this topic ... but ......
Now that my chillis are well established in bigger pots and looking very healthy, when can I transfer them to the unheated GH, without upsetting them?

People in the know reckon that chillis need temps of at least 15 degrees C Susie so with the wether apparently taking a downturn the weekend id maybe wait till after this little cold snap.
Mine have been up the gh for ten days now but i will consider bringing them in the weekend for a few evenings, the days will be fine with the sun out.

Also make sure to harden them off which will involve some back and forth with them..

Mine went into the GH last Thursday ready for last weekends heatwave. (They had been going out for the days for weeks) I will keep my eye on the night time temps, I won't chance it. As Jack said 15 is a good guide. If it's forecast for 10+ I will chance it now as the weather is warming up and the dip in temps doesn't last very long (I also light some tea lights in terracotta pots) I make sure all the plants are all bunched together and will fleece them all, my smaller chillies are in unheated propagators that I cover with plastic lids. This weekend with a forecast of 6 I'll be bringing them indoors.
Though as Jack has said it is a good idea to take them out for the day and back in for a few nights now ready for next week. Daytime temps in the GH for me are in the 20's so they will really benefit.

Talking about Ceyaennes ive just been pondering whether to sow some , i realise its a bit late but their pretty quick maturing arent they, just will they get eough...ah, bugger it im gonna try .
My crossbreeds of the Capn havent done anything yet so lets see, nothing ventured ey.

Jack, my cayennes were all still small, but after last weekends bit of warmth they had a bit of a growing spurt! They're still on my bedroom south facing windowsill and they're lovin every minute, I can tell!!!

Oh dear, well I did sow a few chillies yesterday, as you say it's late, so if they don't make it, I'll buy some plants. I always seem to have a late start with chillis, but they seem to catch up, still using last year's!

Well Dorothy, they may be late, but you could always overwinter them!
It's great when you keep getting chillis! Mine too lasted for ages - and I do use a lot of chillis in my cooking!
Can't wait to start getting 'supplies' from this years beauties ...!

It's a shame you don't live near, I would happily donate some of my plants to you, Dorothy and Jack as I've got rather more than I bargained for ...!!!

Let's us know how you get on and if you manage to get a reasonable crop. They may catch up, your location helps of course when do you usually start them, are they cayennes? Jacks also starting off cayennes, you can compare notes
