Today I harvested - 2016

Just harvested a couple of spring onions.

I started some off in march in compost and they all died and then i read they were hard to grow, so i just chucked a load of seed in a bag full of old soil that had spuds in last year. It really isn't the best soil at all but low and behold they have all shot away. Got loads to harvest.

Tomatoes, radish, purple podded peas, chives and mixed lettuce for a lunch time salad.

Heaps of Lollo Rossa lettuce (again..!!!) two courgettes (one monster size..!) golden beetroot and ONE radish ................

3lb runner beans, French beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and small peppers

A few more dfb & mangetout, more courgettes & too much Swiss chard - over estimated how much I would eat!

Harvested a durham early cabbage, a swede and some broad beans to go with my mince and potatoes.

Lovely dinner. I really enjoyed it!!!

5lbs of supermarket charlotte potatoes. I'm really plased with this as I just grew them on an old bit of lawn and covered with greenwaste or spent compost. No fertilisers of any kind. I think this haul mostly came from a single plant, difficult to tell as I've left another plant to continue growing.

More sweetcorn, more runner beans and a bag of Desiree potatoes. I was worried about the Desiree because they got blighted and the tops have all died at least a month too early. But there's a reasonable crop under there, pretty clean and not slug-infested.

Oh and a big bunch of flowers. Cosmos, sweet peas, Godetia, cornflowers.

Today I picked some of my moonlight runner beans had them with a green Thai curry,do you find yourself having runner beans for every meal even if it doesn't really go? These moonlight beans are only just ready today,about a week later than my celebration runner beans,sowed at the same time. Both great beans similar yield although celebration is a bit better,moonlight seem a bit plumper in the flesh but celebration are a good texture,excellent flavour & a quicker variety. Also picked a cucino cucumber,sweet pepper & lifted my garlic,they're tiny,I was growing them in pots & they're so small I don't even know where they are.....
