Oh dear- that must be so frustrating.

My peppers are that height too- even under a cloche.

It's suddenly stuck me that it'll be September in less than 5 weeks time, and I always associate Autumn with the beginning of the school Autumn Term

Yes indeed....... where on earth is summer????was that it a few weeks back?????

Bit of warmth possible this weekend, but I think the overall pattern is most likely to remain changeable, with westerly winds dominating. My gut feeling is that this is one of those years where the promising weather in spring gives rise to hopes of a great summer but it turns out to be bitterly disappointing.

      Sorry.

I am still optimistic that summer will appear! We can't have the WHOLE of August this terrible surely?!

My first year at GYO - could have picked a better one!

It's actually a good lesson from year one- you can NEVER predict the weather , nor which crops will do well or badly.
That's why most of us grow a large selection of different crops expecting some to do badly/fail whilst others do well.
Something usually does really well ..you just have to cross your fingers you planted some!!!!

Thanks for the smith period information, I didnot know that but I took all my potato tops off yesterday because
I think there was some blight, for once I was right! My potatoes have been good this year so far unlike my beans which did not want to germinate maybe it has been too cold for them?

Just to warn that there is a 'Snow' period due to occur this coming Friday until Tuesday; blight will likely strike hard and sudden in Wiltshire in this period as I will be away for a few days.
