I ordered them off amazon only this year. Can't remember what kind they are either. They have been on my window cill since the start of February, but still absolutely nothing. Looks like they are knackered. Bloody rip off haha!

In my experience leeks ted to be one of the easiest things to germinate for me, even in cold temperatures down to 10C.
What variety are they? Some varieties have taken 3-4 weeks to come up for me before.
My money is on them being knackered tho.

Also where are you germinating them? I do mine in 5" pots with plastic propagator lids in the cool conservatory then move outside without the lauds after germination into a cold greenhouse before growing on prior to pricking out etc. tend to germinate in about a week that way, even with seeds about 5 years old.

Guest repliedHow old are the seeds? Onion and leek seeds tend to have a short shelf life around a couple of years at best.

Leek seed germination.
I just can't get these little sods to germinate. Everything else seems to be germinating fine, except these. I have 12 modules with 2 seeds in each and a month and a bit later, still nothing, not even 1. I've even now tried putting some on wet paper towels and still nothing.
Is there a certain way of doing it? How long does it normally take?
Perhaps the seeds are just knackered.Tags: None
