  • Land Cress - a nice surprise.

Well I was browsing a veg gardening book in a shop earlier and noticed a picture of something called Land Cress. "That's the weed I have been pulling out for years" I thought to myself. Well, I got home and found one and indeed it tasted peppery and delicious just like cress. I will now cultivate it as much as I can. I like surprises like that. You learn something new all the time :-)

I like Land Cress too - tastes like watercress and so easy to grow. Great in cheese sandwiches

        I have Land cress envy.
Tried to grow it a few times last year and forgot about it so it never got going.

        What a nice surprise :-)

I find it self seeds easily - I let it get on with it in the GH and there's always some to pick right through winter.

Yes, it has given me a possitive start and I feel I owe it to you all to give you something good instead of a moan.

Thanks. I am usually at my lowest Jan Feb so hang on to anything with a glimmer of hope. Been through a horrible year personally too gardening aside.

Lots of us feel a bit low during the short days of winter, but spring is on its way, snowdrops and crocus are out and the daffs have buds. How are your flowers doing?

I used to grow landcress but for some reason hasnt done anything last couple of years.

Have done well with watercress aqua, very easy to grow and tastes great

Here's a daf from 21st January to prove vc's point. Oh,and my cress? It splatted in a frost and now looks like the cress you find in a forgotten sarnie....

I have quite a few early flowers on their way and some about to come out. Snakehead Fatillery, snowdrops, wild garlic, primula, grape hyacinth, and more.

Sounds lovely Marb. The spring flowers are my favourites, I love seeing the garden waking up after the winter.
