Horrible little black bugs in the top of my strawbs - any prevention?

There are vine weevil nematodes available. The adults are a bit of a pain ... surprised you can 'see' them though...quite fast/shy as a rule..... It is the grubs eating all the roots over winter that is the real problem.

Depends on what the bugs are. Do you have an accurate description or better still a photo?

short (couple of mm) jet black bugs, no legs. They are eating away at the top of the fruit

Pollen beetles are really small, about the size you said, and as they are so small it's hard to see their legs.

Are they eating the strawberries, Binco? Or just crawling around on them.

What do baby woodlice look like?

They look just the same as adults but smaller VC!

I wondered whether they came in teeny weeny sizes that could be mistaken for legless little black bugs Woodlice nibble the guts out of my strawbs

I think these sound like like thunder bugs/fruitflies type of thing....and similar to woodlice are only opportunistic. ie They just go for damaged by slug/bird or rotting ones.

I have never seen flea beetle on straws (if that is what we're driving at with oil seed rape line)
